Project Main Details

Lake Charles Charpentier Historic District
Bar-Z Adventures is producing a video tour of Lake Charles' Charpentier Historic District. This is a tour of the homes and other historical attractions in the Lake Charles area. The videos will be primarily used in a smartphone app. The App is meant to be like a virtual docent... the user downloads it and then can take a walking tour of Lake Charles. When they approach a certain home or attraction the phone will let them know there is a video to watch. This will be heavily promoted in travel magazines all over the world.
As for the VO, our client would like someone with a lively, informative and educational tone. You do need to have a southern accent (a light one!) so the visitors feel the local flavor. Feel free to read in whatever tone and cadence suits you!

Script Details

custom demo required
Script 1:
Fire! On a warm breezy spring day in 1910, Lake Charles changed forever when a raging fire nearly completely destroyed downtown. Much of downtown had been built of pine and cypress, cut and milled locally. The rosin-rich lumber burned hot and the fire spread quickly. Whistles blew, bells rang, and alarms clanged as men and women raced and worked to save their homes and their lives. Streetcars and carriages were used to evacuate victims to safer areas south of the blaze. The strong winds spread hot burning embers to homes and businesses, igniting spot fires far away from downtown. Firemen pumped water into the flames that leapt from building to building in a vain effort to save downtown.

Script 2: After the Great Fire of 1910, a unique trio of high-style architecture was constructed to replace government and church buildings that had been lost to flame. All three were designed by famous architects Favrot (Fav-ROH) and Livaudais (Lee-vaw-DAY) with distinctive styles and all three are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The copper-domed Historic Calcasieu (KAL-kuh-shoe) Courthouse is Palladian Revival with classic lines.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
