Project Parameters
Script Details
We’ve had a thorough process up to this point, and now we’re going to the public for comment on the draft plan. Everything you’ll hear today is part of the proposed plan.
The waste:
So how are we going to go about this? The good news: Of all the stuff we get rid of, over 90% could be recycled or composted.
We are already getting 63% of it. Now we want to focus on what is still in the garbage. The next slide gives us a closer look at these segments that are not getting recycled today
What’s still in the garbage
When we look at what is in the garbage right now:
Almost one third could be composted, most of that is food
Another 20% is building materials that could be recycled
26% is stuff like paper, the type of material that is recycled everyday.
So really only a quarter of what we are throwing away, needs to be in the garbage Reduce, reuse, recycle: the order matters We are all familiar with this symbol, and the phrase “reduce, reuse, recycle”
