While living on a college campus for a week, participants are introduced to the world of free enterprise in a program that is organized and funded entirely by business and industry.
Participants are assigned to a team of sixteen to eighteen young men and women from across the state. Throughout the week they simulate a company operation facing many of the same decisions handled by executives in the real business world. Business executives on loan for the week serve as Company Advisors. This professional environment provides for an intense and exciting competition among student companies with prizes for the winners at the end of the week.
Company Advisors are dedicated business and industry professionals who volunteer to serve as the students’ role models and mentors. Each Advisor spends the full week with a company sharing knowledge and experience to help young leaders gain a better understanding of the free enterprise system.
The week features world class speakers who address a variety of topics on the free market system. These are successful entrepreneurs and business leaders who share their insights and valuable perspective.
Free Enterprise Week gives participants plenty of opportunity for interactive learning exercises and stimulation.
Team spirit gained primarily through company activities is further enhanced on the volleyball court where fierce competition often becomes paramount. In addition to the on-campus program, participants gain other valuable experiences through visits to regional business and industry. All students accepted into FEW are supported by scholarships from businesses and service organizations. The scholarship for each student covers the cost of all meals, housing, program materials, activities and social events. Participants wear their sponsors name throughout the program and upon graduation report to them on what they’ve learned.
If you or your company are interested in becoming involved in FEW by providing scholarships or by participating as a volunteer Company Advisor, Speaker, or in any capacity, contact Free Enterprise Week by calling area code 811-333-9576.
