Male voice is needed for a video.
LTK9103208883X
Rate: $150
Length of Script: 250 words

This is a character driven story about a war hero who was killed in action during WWII. The story is told from the perspective of a man working in a sandwich shop, talking to a customer.

In this read we are looking for a Jersey accent, someone who is rough around the edges, but has seen a lot in him time. The pace should be quick, but conversational.

This video is one of 15 profiles of war heroes who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest form of recognition in the US armed forces. The videos will be on display at a museum in South Carolina. *

Ted Benfold Script
Characters: Gallagher, a cook in a hoagie shop in Jersey.

GALLAGHER: “Okay, one roast chicken hoagie! What’s that? Yeah, I was a Marine. Somethin’ for me? Oh man, where’d you get this? Hey Fuzzy take over for a second, would ya? Thanks.

“Ted Benfold!” Yeah, I remember him. I mean, in Korea he saved my…well, here sit down, please.

Didn’t know him really well at first even though he’s a Jersey guy like me, but a quiet sort…Navy Corpsman… He’d been with “L Company” for only three weeks.

Then came September 5th, 1952. That’s when the Reds hit us at a place we called “Bunker Hill.” See? Right here! Mortar fire, automatic weapons… They never let up!

But, neither did Ted. He was everywhere at once, treating wounded Marines.

I was flat on my back in a shell crater. Geez, there I am! Me and this other guy. We’re losin’ blood. I couldn’t move my legs! That’s when Teddy found us.

He’s got an IV into me, Started treatin’ the other guy too, when a couple of Reds jumped us. Each lobbed a grenade into the crater. I’m thinkin’ we’re finished! Goner’s, right?

Yeah, except for Ted. He quick grabs both “live” grenades, jumps up and charges them two Commies, slams a grenade into each of their chests, just as they go off!

Yeah, I remember Ted Benfold. It’s because of him that me, and a lot of other old rednecks, are alive today. Hey, no charge, okay? You made my day, kid. You made my day!
