The strongest, lightest
cut-and-abrasion-resistant
material known to man.
MAN: Hello and welcome to Tuff-n-Lite. I’m here to tell you about this revulsionary product, the strongest, lightest cut-and-abrasion-resistant material known to man.
Safety garments and gloves made with Tuff-n-Lite have revolutionized the meatpacking and other industries… and they are about to do the same for motorcyclists, law enforcement officers and extreme-sports enthusiasts, among others.
Tuff-n-Lite clothing is stronger than steel – 10 to 15 times stronger, pound for pound -- but it’s as soft and flexible as cotton. Tuff-n-Lite is lightweight, breathable armor that – as Teresa is about to show you -- looks like the clothing you would normally wear.
Teresa holds up & displays a shirt (fingering it to
show how flexible it is)
TERESA: Tuff-n-Lite is a lightweight, breathable armor that looks and feels like clothing you would normally wear. Not only is it stronger than garments made from commonly used aramid fibers such as Kevlar® and Twaron®, Tuff-n-Lite will not sacrifice its strength when wet or exposed to ultra violet sunlight. Also, unlike the high strength fiber fabrics, it is not effected by disinfectants or common household bleaches. It’s created by a unique, multi-patented process that combines natural and synthetic fibers for almost
unimaginable strength. And it
can be made cut resistant, slash
resistant, tear resistant, abrasion
resistant, puncture resistant, flame
resistant and even chemical resistant.
As you can see,
Footage to be shot: knife or razor cutting
cotton and leather, then same implement trying
but failing to cut Tuff-n-Lite.
this knife (razor?) cuts through ordinary leather and cotton like
butter… but it hardly makes a scratch on the Tuff-n-Lite.
Tuff-n-Lite has a core fiber that’s combined with strands of other fibers
-- like Dyneema®, Spectra®, Kevlar®, Twaron®, fiberglass and stainless steel -- to add characteristics like strength, abrasion resistance, heat resistance and softness. Our commitment to research and development in engineering high-performance materials -- combined
with our manufacturing and technical expertise, quick turn-around and competitive pricing --
makes us the unquestioned leader in the specialty-materials industry.

MAN: Combine a family tradition in textiles with years of work … and the result is Tuff-n-Lite – the leading high-performance specialty material in America today. In 1981, we decided we wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives…and we saw a need for a safety fabric that was stronger than steel, highly cut-and-abrasion resistant yet as soft, flexible and comfortable to wear as cotton.
After years of research and development we did it…we achieved our goal and created the impossible. (beat) We created Tuff-n-Lite.
Tuff-n-Lite was first launched in the food handling industry. Meat
processing is particularly dangerous,
GotFootage (A258-354) worker cutting steaks
and amputated fingers, hands and limbs used to be commonplace among meat cutters. Thanks to Tuff-n-Lite, that’s changed. Tuff-n-Lite aprons, sleeves, smocks and gloves have saved an incalculable amount of pain and suffering for employees and millions of dollars for the companies that employ them. This new technology is now being introduced to the police,

motorcycle and sportswear industries. This means that everyone -- from police and firemen to kids on skateboards – can be a little …or a lot…safer! We have a wall full of patents and thank-you letters from satisfied customers -- but better still, we know that a lot more meat cutters still have 10 fingers.

Tuff-n-Lite won’t degrade from the heat of the sun or from coming in contact with moisture like rain and perspiration. If it can be cut, slashed, torn or degraded due to abrasion, Tuff-n-Lite high-performance material could save your life, your children’s lives

MAN: With Tuff-n-Lite, you can have the
cut-and-slash protection you need,

without looking or feeling like you are wearing a suit made out of chain mail. Tuff-n-Lite is lightweight, breathable armor that looks and feels like the clothing you would normally wear. It has more than double the cut resistance of Aramid fibers like Kevlar® or Twaron®. And it won’t be degraded by ultraviolet rays, moisture or disinfectants. Whether you’re facing an angry criminal with

TERESA: In 2005, 4,533 motorcyclists were killed on the road, according to the

happen, but they don’t have to keep
you off the road -- not if you suit up in road armor made with Tuff-n-Lite, the

Clothing made with Tuff-n-Lite is as soft as cotton and stronger than steel – 10 to 15 times stronger, in fact… but without the weight. It’s breathable, flexible and washable – and it looks just like the clothing you would normally wear. And unlike products made with Kevlar®, it won’t lose its strength from getting wet or from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. So next time you’re buying road gear,

insist on Tuff-n-Lite and remember that old saying that’s still oh so true, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

MAN: An “extreme sport” is any sport that features speed, height, danger, a high level of physical exertion, highly
specialized gear or spectacular stunts.

Naturally, these sports can generate injuries – and not just to teenagers.
ShutterstockFootage (2766) Skateboarder crashes into wall
In the United States, there are over 4 million sports injuries a year – over 24 million if you include less-serious injuries. And all age groups are involved. Sports-related emergency-room injuries are especially growing among Baby Boomers. Sports-related injuries among Baby Boomers have increased by 33% -- and as this group passes from middle age into active retirement,
Shutterstock Footage (13887) Older man abseiling down a rock
this figure is sure to grow. In fact, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety
Commission has recorded an increase of 54% in sports injuries among people 65 and older.
Sports injuries among adolescences account for half of all of their injuries, most of which are avoidable. One of many examples, one-third of adolescence in-line skating emergency room treated injuries could have been prevented or lessened in severity by the use of abrasive protective equipment.
Never was there more need for people – no matter what their age – to wear protective clothing made with Tuff-n-Lite.

Tuff-n-Lite is 15 times stronger than steel – yet it’s lightweight, washable, flexible and breathable. And it looks like the clothing you would normally wear. With the growing concern for safety and the increasing number of sports participants, Tuff-n-Lite is uniquely positioned to give your sportswear a strong point of differentiation in a competitive, crowded market place…

MAN: Going to work can be dangerous –very dangerous. The International Conference of Free Trade Unions estimates that, throughout the world, 3000 people die at work every day…
every day! … and about 250 million a year are injured in accidents. In the United States, great progress is being made in protecting workers in dangerous industries … and Tuff-n-Lite is part of it. Take meat packing, for example. Among meat cutters,
GotFootage (A258-354) worker cutting steaks
lacerations and amputations used to be common. Now, in companies that mandate the use of Tuff-n-Lite, such accidents are rare. This has saved untold pain and suffering for workers… and millions of dollars for the companies that employ them.
Tuff-n-Lite aprons, sleeves, smocks and gloves have proven invaluable. They are abrasion-and-bacterial-resistant and impermeable to water and grease. They are also washable and return to their original shape after physical or temperature stress.

Although our popular Tuff-n-Lite with Dyneema ® has excellent properties, Tuff-n-Lite can be formed with an Aramid fiber instead when high-heat applications -- between 220 and 900 degrees Fahrenheit -- are required.
GotFootage.com (A134-055) Fire on roof with large amount of smoke and fire; two firemen on roof
If maximum abrasion resistance is not needed -- and low cost is imperative -- we can formulate Tuff-n-Lite with more common core products such as fiberglass or stainless steel. A composite made this way will retain most of Tuff-n-Lite’s high-performance fiber attributes and cost considerably less.
Those are just a few of the options
that we can choose from to create
a Tuff-n-Lite composite material
that fits your needs --- and budget.
