Script Details
The purpose of this video is to provide the correct and safe application of stretches for both you and your horse.
We’d like to help you understand which muscles you are actually lengthening in the stretch. To facilitate this we will include illustrations of the muscles along side the stretch
There are many examples of various positions in published books that are really not meant for the general public. Some of the positions can compromise the worker’s body and possibly the horse.
To help you understand we will provide examples which we would like you to avoid with each stretch.
Some riders feel that adding stretching to their current routine will take too much time. However, by stretching your horse before its workout you are manually warming up the muscles correctly which will mean less time is needed in a proper warm up so there is less wear and tear on your horse.
Also you can tailor the stretching program to your horse’s need. It is not necessary to perform every stretch. While stretching is very beneficial as part of your warm up, it should also be used in your cool down or in between vigorous activity
This video demonstrates the use of passive stretching. Anytime your horse resists the stretch you should return to a relaxation technique or a stretch he enjoys. If you are attempting a stretch and the horse tightens the muscles you are no longer performing passive stretching. EQ – Test Script
