Collectively, we refer to these potential benefits as “The Orqis Effect.”
VOICE OVER #3: Chronic heart failure patients with acute decompensation are often characterized by an enlarged, poorly functioning heart…deranged hemodynamics… increased peripheral vascular resistance due to vasoconstriction, …and renal dysfunction.
VOICE OVER #4: The Cancion System consists of proprietary inflow and outflow catheters, blood pump, and controller.
VOICE OVER #5: Therapy begins by gaining bi-femoral arterial access using standard interventional technique.
An arterial-to-arterial blood flow circuit is established by connecting catheters to the pump using tubing provided in the Kit Package.
Once the circuit is complete, blood is advanced through the tubing where it is re-introduced into the descending aorta. The heart itself is never touched during this procedure.
VOICE-OVER 6: The catheter delivers a continuous, non-pulsatile blood flow of up to 1 and ½ liters per minute. After treatment, the pump is turned off and catheters are removed.
VOICE OVER #7: The Cancion System is based on the hypothesis that increasing and maintaining blood flow in the descending aorta, with CAFA, improves hemodynamics in the acutely decompensated chronic heart failure patient.
VOICE OVER #8:
CAFA is currently being evaluated to determine its effect on stopping or reversing the progression of heart failure through three physiological effects.
Reduced systemic vascular resistance…
Improved renal function…
..and reduced cardiac workload.
The Cancion System provides continuous aortic flow augmentation, known as C-A-F-A, which is thought to reduce systemic vascular resistance, improve renal function, and reduce cardiac workload.
