Script Details
Male #1
Male, 34 years, Creative Director, Graphic designer.
Deep down he's a good-hearted guy. Cynical, always sarcastic, quick to throw out inappropriate comments just to be a wiseass. Dan Fielding from Night Court, Bill MacNeil from NewsRadio.
A little pretentious and superior. Into Starbucks and Apple computers.
Voice Type:
Dry wit, often sarcastic. David Cross or Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show),
Stephen Colbert, John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox on Scrubs). Fast talking,
throwing out sharp barbs. Total smartass.
Test Dialogue:
"Men control the free world, but women control the boobs."
"Yeah...I can't hear you, I'm inside my protective blanket of fear."
"They took away smoking, they took away drugs and promiscuous sex.
They took away eating red meat and slapping cute girls on the ass.
All I have left is overpriced coffee, and by God, I'm gonna drink it
because it makes me look cool."
"Lisa hit me in the face. I asked her to pull into Starbucks for some
morning coffee, and she hauled off and hit me in the face!"
"You're a corporate whore. Have a Merry Christmas."Male #2
Male, 34 years, Editor in Chief of a Magazine. “The boss.”
He is the guy in charge and because of that most of the responsibility falls on his shoulders. It’s his job to reign in the wacky antics of the rest of the gang, but more times than not, he fails at that task and gets drawn into the antics themselves.
Is a total geek-grown-up. A man-child.
Voice Type:
Slightly high-pitched — a nerd who grew up. Harry Anderson (Night Court)
Matthew Broderick, Evan Handler (Sex and the City, Lost), Rick Moranis
(but not over the top), Jason Alexander.
Test Dialogue:
"Does anyone have anything else to say before we close the meeting?"
"Mike's very impressionable and I just don't want to see him getting hurt."
"Mike, what's wrong with you? He's just being polite. Can't you at least
try to get into the spirit of roleplaying?"
"Boys, I have in my hands the greatest Dungeons and Dragons campaign
ever conceived. I finished it over the holiday. I think we should start a
weekly game."
“Damn that Mike Smith!”Male Teen #1
Male, 16 years old, tech support.
Your typical obnoxious, selfish teenager. Totally in your face, sophomoric, juvenile. Only working at the magazine so he can play the latest video games and get free stuff.
Voice Type:
Frankie Munoz, Fred Savage
Test Dialogue:
"Gaaaayyyy."
“Don’t make me roll initiative.”
"I don't know what happened... it was all a blur. She was talking, and
then my pants started going crazy, and then I just did it."
"Look, Mike, I've constructed a crude yet functional time machine from a
Maglite, some D-cell batteries, and my Game Boy. I'm going to the future
to play Diablo 2. Crazy, am I? Crazy like a fox! You'll be the one questioning
your sanity once you watch me dissolve into time. Catch you on the flip
side, bitch."Male #3
Male, 426 years old (in human years), probably around 10 years old emotionally.
A troll that lives in the offices. Innocent, naive, childlike, caring, clumsy, oafish, a little retarded.
Voice Type:
Richard Kind (Spin City), possibly Chris Farley
Test Dialogue:
"Yeah, humans are pretty cool. But you hang out with them too long,
and they start treating you like a mascot."
"Oh God, I'm sorry! I'm sorry I fell on you and farted. Please don't die,
Mike. You're my bestest friend."
"I can't believe I ate a whole box of urinal cakes."
“Oh jeez. I just farted again. Mexican was a bad choice.”Max Powers
Male, 36, Owner of rival gaming magazine
Old high-school rival turned professional competitor. Smarmy, grinning, conniving, kind of Hollywood ass-kisser. The salesman type with a forced laugh and the fake smile.
Voice Type:
Brent Spiner (when he’s not playing Data). Ted McGinley (Married With
Children).
Test Dialogue:
"Ouch! Same old Brent. Ya got me! Zing!"
"You know, Francis, we could use a young, fresh voice like yours over at
PowerPlay Magazine. Would you ever consider writing freelance for us?"
