Professional voice actor needed for documentary

VO Actor – Mountain Town

We are seeking a professional voice actor to play the “role” of Marshall for a 2:15 minute voice-over scene in our upcoming feature documentary, MOUNTAIN TOWN. The film is a documentary, but shot and edited in a feature-esque style. This scene follows a fast-paced “day in the life” of MARSHALL. We originally tried to do the voice-over with Marshall but were unable to get his true character to come through on tape. Our goal is to find a voice talent that can sound similar to Marshall while bringing a professional voice to the tone, pronunciation, and pacing.

The Role: Marshall, a 30-something, flamboyant, master chef who loves to party and be social. Marshall is opinionated, warm, openly gay, but not particularly effeminate. He is six feet tall, has platinum blond, expensively coiffed hair, and wears only designer clothes.

The Scene: This is a day-in-the-life of MARSHALL as told in the first-person. The camera follows as he narrates…from waking up through a day of skiing and doing errands to a late-night, dance-filled party. Through a series of activities and quick, knowing asides, we get to know both MARSHALL and the town and community that he is a part of.

Script

I’m Marshall Roth, I’d tell you how I old I was if I thought it was important. That’s me getting a “Desayuno” at Johnny McGuire’s. Best breakfast sandwich in the world. Not that I eat breakfast very often. But, today started early.

Got a call from my realtor that woke me up. Trying to open a restaurant in this town and let me tell you it isn’t easy finding a good location. Checked my email and decided to go skiing. Red skis and red boots, black jacket., white sunglasses…no hat. Priceless.

Walking into town and caught up on a few calls. Set up my plans for the night and caught a little art on the way.

Stopped in at Johnny’s…but you already knew that.

Got on the gondola and headed straight for Walsh’s. Stopped at the Raoul Shrine for my moment of Zen. [short pause]

Skied Walsh’s non-stop. A few more runs and I’m cashed.

Head into the Ajax Tavern and chat with Niles. Run into a couple of friends and head home to change.

New outfit and back out for a late lunch. [very short pause]

Sitting at the bar at Gusto, power lunching, making new friends. The food is Italian. the bartender is Argentinian; the waiter Australian; the hostess, Brazilian. I love this town.

Off to meet the realtor. A long the way say hi to Mike the traveling knife sharpener; pet the horses, apparently studs are in; do a bit of shopping, almost buy a 'one hit wonder' t-shirt but decide it's already too done.

Meet with the realtor at a possible location for the restaurant. This could be it. Being in the kitchen makes me feel like getting my chef on.

Time for Happy Hour. Head to the Nell. Nicole serves me a Cosmo. Run into two girls on some Reality TV show. Nice boots. Look up at the TV (OR: Speaking of TV…), Olympics are on.

PAUSE FOR GRETCHEN-MAC INTERLUDE

PAUSE FOR GRETCHEN-MAC INTERLUDE

Give the reality girls my phone number. You never know, they could be famous some day. Make the happy hour rounds, get some pants fitted at Prada; and head home to change..again.

Out for the night now. First stop, sushi at Kenichi. Falami, my DJ friend from NY meets me there. We sit at the bar and tell Kyomi to take care of us. Kyomi is like a sushi ninja. Sit next to a group of girls from LA. Before long, everybody's toasting. It's gonna be a good night. Snow is starting to fall, again. [very short pause]

Next stop, a gallery opening at 212 and then on to Jimmy's.

Two things you need to know about Jimmy's – I’m the only non-jimmy with my name on the wall and I've got my own drink. Bar is packed. Too packed. Head to Belly Up for some music.

Talk about ice fishing in Minnesota with Ira, a guy i just met from New Orleans. His cousin is the tuba player in the band. Music's great but I’ve got a birthday party to go to. Into Barclay's for Didier's birthday party. Night is still young…

…Dance to hip-hop, trip-hop, trance, and even some old school funk…ski bums, barons, bartenders, lift ops, lawyers, artists, and heiresses…everybody’s shakin’ what they got.

It's 2am. Snow still falling, clubs are closing. Time to head home. Might even get up early to ski tomorrow or make an offer on that restaurant space. At this point, anything's possible.
