Welcome to the Ferris State University Web Creator tool. This tool has been designed for you to be able to create a website for you or your organization easily and quickly without the need of programming skills.
By this time you should have received an e-mail from our technical staff with the URL and the password to get you started. If you have not received the e-mail, please request one from the Ferris State University Web Master.
Follow the instructions in the e-mail and log in to the URL provided. Enter the password provided.
Once you login, you will see a Ferris State University page with the name of your site in the upper right hand corner. On this page you will see some pre-created hyperlinks and an EDIT SITE button.
So, how do you add pages and content to your website from this point? Easy, just click on the Edit Site button.
You will see a set of four links:
Announcements, site links, site sub links and request site approval.. What do they mean?
Your new site is equipped with some great features. For instance, would you like a homepage that can display announcements in the homepage and that automatically expire when necessary? Then the Announcement Feature is for you.
What if you need to create more pages to your site, edit them or delete them? Then the Site Links is the feature you need.
If you would like to create more links that are tied to a particular main category, you might want a link with bulleted hyperlinks. The Site Sub Links is what you are looking for.
For security and content monitoring reasons, every website created in this system has to be approved by Ferris State University staff before it can be public. Until then, your site will be available only by typing the provided password. Once you feel your site is ready to be published, click on the Request Site Approval Link. It will open a pre-filled form that after clicking Submit, will send an e-mail to the Ferris State University staff in charge of approving your site.
The Log Out button will prevent unauthorized users from making changes to your site in the event that your computer is left unattended. For security reasons, please make sure you keep your password secure and you log out after you are done making changes to your site.
