– a global leader in the water treatment and membrane separations industry – uses the cutting edge advantages of science and technology to tap into unused resources to improve and protect the quality of life around the world.

1. HYD & ND: Headquartered in Oceanside, California, is an industry leader in membrane technology.

Since our founding in 1963, has been committed to the highest standards of technology, research, product excellence and customer satisfaction. In 1987, became part of , a multi-billion dollar corporation headquartered in Osaka, Japan. was started in 1918, producing electrical insulation materials; it now has over 110 companies in more than 20 countries, with over 16,000 employees worldwide. is a vital member of this unique company that continuously creates new value for their customers while striving to enrich the quality of life, protect the environment and contribute to society by delivering innovative products that provide solutions to our customers. Our alliance with this global film industry giant boosts to a superior level of technological sophistication, product performance and customer response.

is a flexible technology company with 13 disciplines centered on film sciences. Their LCD film divisions lead the world market, and other divisions offer film and coating innovations in lamination, polymer synthesis, surface protection films, semiconductor wafer-tacking tapes, transdermal therapeutic patches and membrane technologies (show graphic from ND presentation 18 & 24).

filed their first membrane casting patent in 1974; since 1980 and have filed a total of 64 additional patents in membrane technologies– more than any of our competitors. These patents improve interfacial surface coating and composite membrane performance and refine the reverse osmosis process for specific applications. In 2005, opened a dedicated bioscience research and development facility adjacent to ’ global head headquarters. Our joint commitment to research and technological advancement guarantees the evolution of a full range of specialized membrane products -- always with a focus on exceptional film performance.

forms one-third of ’s international membrane manufacturing division. The division consists of three production plants around the world located in Shiga Prefecture Japan, Shanghai China, and our global manufacturing headquarters in Oceanside, California.

Production details: ’ 14-acre, 160,000-square-foot manufacturing facility (show in meters onscreen) in Oceanside, California is larger than two soccer fields put together – making it one of the largest membrane manufacturers in the world.

2. Quality & Product Consistency:
engages the latest in automation technologies in out manufacturing processes including automated casting, auto prep, sonic welding and gluing robotics. We are the only membrane manufacturer to wet test 100% of their elements; wet testing is the only method to validate product performance. can guarantee the flow and rejection rate of each element we produce – because we choose comprehensive testing over the statistical sampling practices of our competitors.

Hard science proves that it is both flow and rejection rates that determine the performance caliber of an element. As industry-wide technology has increased general element flow, ONLY has, at the same time, maintained high rejection rates - benefiting directly from ’s research and production innovations in interfacial surface coating.

Excellence in manufacturing is dependent on excellence of raw materials; our three manufacturing locations collaborate to make the best possible global sourcing alliances. Once purchased, ’ QA/QC Department inspects each raw material lot for quality before it enters the production stream.

has lean manufacturing goals, using the respected 5S program and Kaisen principles to create consistent product. We are committed to quality - is one of the few membrane manufacturers with a ISO 9001:2000 certified Quality Management System. We also have certifications for drinking water standards around the world including NSF, DWI and KIWA. ’ process separation elements meet all FDA standards and US3A standards for food and dairy products.

3. Experience (References)
(Desal)
is the recognized leader in seawater desalination, producing a wide range of elements that offer the highest levels of salt rejection and low energy consumption. Our innovative membrane technologies can lower desalination operating pressures by 5% or more, resulting in millions of dollars of savings over a 20 year plant life. (show on screen list of top SWC references – Fujairah, Carboneros, Cartegena, Almeria, Antofagasta, etc.)

supplied over 21,000 reverse osmosis elements for the Fujairah seawater desalination plant in the United Arab Emirates, at 100 million gallons per day this is the largest hybrid reverse osmosis/multi-stage flash distillation plant in the world. Here, our elements produce over 45 million gallons per day of purified water for industrial and potable applications. Globally, desalinates over 264 million gallons per day.

(Brackish)
also offers a comprehensive line of reverse osmosis spiral wound elements for brackish feed water applications. These elements can remove organic contaminants having a molecular weight of 100 daltons or more, making them ideal for removing pesticides, biological and chemical oxygen demand as well as natural organic materials that form disinfection by-products upon chlorination. (show membrane spectrum chart and/or other tech graph)

is a preferred supplier in the treatment of wastewater applications for the island country of Singapore. supplied elements for the NEWater Bedok and Kranji Water Reclamation Plants with a combined capacity of 21.5 million gallons per day. In early 2006 was again selected by Singapore to provide 9,100 ESPA2+ elements to the 44 million gallons per day (167,700 m3/d/show on screen) Ulu Pandan secondary effluent wastewater project. This is the fourth and largest NEWater project for recycled drinking water and industrial water applications.

For nanofiltration brackish feed water applications, offers low fouling, energy savings ESNA elements that are ideal for treating high-organic well waters - removing compounds with a molecular weight in excess of 200 daltons including color, pesticides, many EDCs, organic matter, bacteria and viruses. Our ESNA elements have been chosen by numerous large-scale plants in Florida – including the 40 million gallons per day (151,400 m3d onscreen) Boca Raton plant, one of the largest NF plants in the world.

Some of our world wide projects for brackish feed waters include:
(Show reference list of screen for ESPA, LFC, CPA, ESNA projects)
(Process Separations)
Our innovations are not just limited to water – provides an extensive series of membranes for the specialty process applications. Our DairyRO line is used in the concentration of whey in dairy cheese plants, Dairy UF captures whey protein concentrates for use in food additives and nutraceuticles, SanRO is specifically utilized in pharmaceutical water production and SupRO is used in the corn wet milling industry to clarify dextrose. Other applications include (show on screen) maple sap concentration, wine and beverage processing, enamel and petroleum-based paint recovery, machine tool coolant recovery, and other specialized filtrate recovery needs.

4.Customer/Technical Service
equips our customers to achieve their membrane filtration objectives with sophisticated software and personal attention. We developed our Integrated Membrane Solutions software to meet customer planning needs; this user-friendly and free software allows the implementation of a wide range of combined membrane technologies to achieve the most effective solution. Our global presence keeps our personalized support available to our customers around the world around the clock.

Water is our Earth’s most precious resource – current World Health Organization data shows that 99 percent of our water is unsafe or unavailable to drink or use for life-improving processes. As the world’s population grows, demands for clean water are increasing dramatically. To keep pace with exponentially soaring needs, we must reclaim, reuse and recycle water. Our reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes are in use all worldwide in a variety of applications producing over 1 billion gallons of clean water per day. (3.78 million cubic meters a day/show on screen)

and harness their innovation, experience, personal commitment and environmental responsibility with one goal in mind:

and – together, we make life better.
