Élan Vital Fusing Color and Imagination
VO: Early on, Leonardo DaVinci played an influential role in young Élan’s life. Discovering DaVinci's renaissance diversity theory at the tender age of seven. After graduating with honors from a gifted high school, attaining the equivalency of an associate degree in engineering at seventeen; Élan ventured into the corporate world working as an engineer for various companies such as IBM and ITT.
Embracing a newfound personal art revolution he left the corporate world, and joined a commune artists in the east village of New York City. Fusing technology and design, Élan began creating psychedelic lighting equipment. Soon after the legendary Andy Warhol, took notice and asked if Élan could design the lighting for a psychedelic discoteque. These early explorations helped develop and evolve into Élan’s creations to this day.
In the early nineties, Élan relocated to Hawaii. One of his first endeavors was opening a studio in Wialuku. But his first major work in Maui came in the form of massive sculpture of a 70 ton whale, which has become a landmark in south Kihei.
His innovative approach to art has led to the original creations in his signature work. Blending science and art, similar to that of DaVinci, he has created a unique style and unconventional approach to painting.
VO: A vast array of light and reflections deepen the look, feel and interpretations of Élan’s work. It’s positive influence lifts the spirit with color, texture, and depth.
VO: Traditional art most often will try to tell you a story, whereas Élan’s work encourages you to create and feel your own story. Reaching out and letting the audience explore through their own imagination is a major component of understanding and enjoying his art.
VO: Élan has had much success with his work and sharing it with the world. He has opened the largest gallery in the Pacific, which is dedicated to a single artist. This exclusive up-scale gallery can be found in the shops at Wailea. To date, more than 3,000 original Élan Vital’s works have been placed throughout the world. The majority of his admirers often come back to pick up more then one of these unique pieces.
