Script Notes: The NetVanta 3430 is a 11" wide metal chassis [shassee] that can serve as a desktop, wall, or 19" rack-mounted router [rooter]. The NetVanta 3430 includes a single NIM slot, and dual Ethernet LAN interfaces on the rear panel of the device. A DB-9 console port for configuration, and an IEC power connector is also provided. The NetVanta 3430, equipped with the Enhanced Feature Pack firmware, can support up to ?? standards-based IPSec [aye pee sek] VPN tunnels.

A similar disaster recovery solution that exists for the NetVanta routers [rooters] is a solution that allows for a broadband, VPN connection to be used for the backup link. In this example, a customer may already have a broadband connection to the Internet. The network administrator would simply configure a less preferable route to the same destination where packets would transverse the ISP connection rather than the primary, corporate Frame Relay connection (in the event that the primary connection fails). In this application, this backup link may be configured as a secure connection enabled by VPN. VPN support is available on the NetVanta routers [rooters] with the enhanced feature pack
