The initial installation of this product requires you to set up a mailbox on
your email server, much as you would for a new employee, and then to use a function available on your email system that would be called “journaling,” “archiving,” or “blind-copying.” The appliance then simply copies all incoming and outgoing emails to that mailbox. The software on the ComplianceVault™ handles all the processing. That is the sum total of the overhead requirements for the ComplianceVault™ on your network. There is no software to load onto your email server. There are no agents to load on your workstations. Just simply create the mailbox and enable the journaling function.

Once you’ve completed this step, you can log onto the ComplianceVault™, where you will see this main screen on the “home page.” The “System Information” you see here gives you the basic metrics of the device, who the user is that is logged on, what version of the software you have, the host name, the time, uptime, address, MAC address, used space, and free space. Initially, what you need to do in order to set this up is to create a connection to that email server and to that mailbox. To do so, you go to “System Management” and configure your email servers. It’s very simple to configure email servers. As you can see here, we have a configuration named “Demo.” It’s on our server called mail@intradyn.com. It’s very easy to set these up and edit them. In this case, this one has the server name description “idemo.” Select whether it’s an Active Server – yes – or MAP or POP3, and select the port number you’re using to connect. Once you have
that configuration established, it’s very easy to then ping that server and test the configuration. The ComplianceVault™ is not limited to single email servers – you can add multiple servers. Once again, this is very easy. Simply enter the necessary information, the protocol, port number, and you’re done.
This demonstration is designed to show you the workings of the Sony-Intradyn ComplianceVault™ Email Archiving & Retrieval Appliance – both from a technical perspective as well as operation and installation. We’ll also cover usability features, searching, reporting, and the audit log feature.
