Script Details
:60 radio spot. Sales scene in a car dealership with an aggressive Phil Hartman-voice salesman and a young guy. An announcer comes in at the end.
SALESMAN: "Hey there. You look like a convertible kinda guy. One hand on the wheel, good-looking babe by your side…"
GUY: "Uh…”
SALESMAN: "Of course! You like that sexy European styling, doncha? Race car suspension, fine engineering…"
GUY: "No. I can't..."
SALESMAN: "I got it! Truck man, right? Big engine. Up off the ground. Carrying gear, owning the road. Yeah?"
GUY: "Well… I can't drive. I lost my license."
SALESMAN: "Ooh, DUI. Shoulda known by that lost look on your face. No freedom, fun, social life. OK, so you’ll need a lawyer, new insurance, fines, lost time at work. Let’s see… that’ll be $12,000.
GUY: "What?”
SALESMAN: "Great deal! …down from 20,000. I’ll see if I can sell it to my manager.”
VO: "When you get caught drinking and driving it’s expensive and you will loose your license. Checkpoint Strikeforce police patrols and sobriety checkpoints are out there stopping drunk drivers – every week, everywhere. Drunk Driving. Over the limit, under arrest."
(Fast-talking “MSRP”stuff on car adds) “Costs may vary on a DUI conviction but research has shown a first offense can cost as high as $20,000. Loss of freedom and social life is certain based on losing your license. Over half a million drivers were stopped at checkpoints last year in the region.”
