TRANSLATION OF PART 1
Kronos Press Distribution Agency is located at Nissou, a privileged industrial area that it’s only 10 minutes drive from Nicosia.
Kronos employs approximately 200 people, and it is the largest press distribution company in Cyprus. The company distributes Local, Greek and International Press by using state of the art technology. The distribution of press to the selling points is done through an automated distribution system which is probably the best in all Eastern Europe and Middle East.
Kronos server, supplies this automated delivery system with all the necessary information. The quantity to be delivered to each selling point appears on a screen that corresponds to a specific publication. Then, the picker places the publications on the conveyor, and the parcel moves forward to the next picker.
The pickers do not know at any moment to which selling point each parcel belongs.
Then each parcel is weighted in order to verify that the correct publications and quantities are included. At the end of the production line, the system places on the parcels the corresponding way bills and return forms.
In case of an error during weighing, the system directs the package in a special conveyor where it is checked manually and corrected.
The system has tremendous advantages, such as speed, accuracy, elimination of mistakes, and great decrease to the staff needed to finish the dispatch. Finally, the drivers delivering the packages at night, are also assisted by the system as all packages are numbered and in sequence.
TRANSLATION OF PART 2
With the use of the system called “200”, the return checking procedure has become a very easy task. All the returns from the selling points are scanned by using the barcodes that exist on almost all publications.
After the scanning, the publications are directed by the system for recycling or for sorting by title and then storage.
The system protects the user from making any mistakes. For example, if the selling point returns a wrong publication, or the quantity returned exceeds the quantity delivered, the system does not allow those returns to be processed.
All the related information is then transferred to the main server in order to credit the selling points with their returns, and proceed with the issue of their invoice.
By using this particular system, the returns are checked very fast, accurately and mistakes are almost eliminated, thus providing better service to the selling points but mainly to the publishers that Kronos represents.
Kronos company has managed by using the two automation systems of both distribution and returns checking, to minimize the mistakes due to human errors. This has resulted in a decrease of the staff necessary to operate the Customer support department from 6 persons to just 3.
