IOM Vets Video ZD145477
Many Veterans that return home from duty often face a tough time readjusting. We're hoping to highlight their struggles and let them know that there's help for them if they need it - and for the public in general to be more sympathetic to their plight.

VO: Today, a veteran returned home.
Ready to reunite with family. Find a job or return to school.
But for too many Veterans, coming home is the hard part.
An Institute of Medicine report on veterans’ health finds that nearly half of returning vets suffer from PTSD,
And close to one in 3 veterans of the post-9/11 era are unemployed,
nearly twice that that of their non-veteran peers.
Stressors from deployment like traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts and depression can create hidden wounds…
And make the transition from rewarding military service a challenge.
Help is available, though not all vets who need treatment receive it.
With a sustained effort from both public and community-based organizations,
We can help veterans better connect with the right support systems as soon as they return home,
Helping aid in a more successful readjustment to civilian life.
