Today nearly every business is at risk for cyber-attacks. And year after year, the Hospitality industry is one of the top targets.
It’s a very real and often devastating risk. According to *******the liability per data breach can range from $150,000 to more than $600,000 or even higher. And, that’s just the financial impact. Once a guest's credit card is stolen, the victim will hold you responsible.
They’ll tell their friends, leave negative reviews and make damaging comments on their social networks. Harming your reputation as well as the brand’s.
*********************************– is designed to help minimize this threat.
How’s it work?
Currently when a guest checks into your hotel, their credit card is swiped at the front desk and stored in your hotel systems.
This leaves your guests and you vulnerable. The data is at risk when traveling between the systems that process and authorize payments.
With SPS, guests swipe their credit card into a new payment terminal. The valuable credit card information is immediately encrypted. It is further protected by replacing the credit card number with a random set of numbers that resembles a credit card number, only useable in the SPS system.
The removal of real card data dramatically reduces the chance of credit card number theft and also makes PCI compliance easier - just by participating in the SPS program.
When you join the SPS program, you become part of a network of hotels that are maximizing their risk protection while taking advantage of IHG negotiated credit card processor rates – only available to those participating.
IHG has negotiated favorable terms with credit card processors that have become certified and joined the SPS program. While all credit card processors can participate, not all will choose to join the SPS program. Be sure to check the rates to determine which option is best for you.
So how do you take advantage of this great technology?
Step one: Check with your current credit card processor to see if they are SPS certified. Visit website xxx. If not, you can choose from other available participating partners after your contract expires. Want to stay with your current credit card processor? Not a problem. Encourage them to become an SPS certified processor. When they compete for your business, you win.
Step two: Sign up for SPS. For those who sign-up in 2014, we will waive the $1000 activation fee.
Step three: Schedule your implementation visit. We will come to your hotel and upgrade your credit card payment terminals to best in class technology.
Credit card fraud is a very real and dangerous risk. Secure Payment Solution will help your hotel significantly reduce your risk and make it easier for PCI compliance.
It’s an investment you can’t afford to postpone.
