******* is an Israeli company that developed a novel Laser assisted Technology to treat Glaucoma.

We present here the new technology, the operation and the 6 months follow-up results.

An ideal glaucoma procedure should qualify as supplying long –term adequate Intra Occular pressure -*** control,yet, be safe, easy to perform, cost effective with low incidence of related adverse effects such as hypotony, Ctaract and other side effects.

**************** system was designed and proven to meet these criteria and has proven to meet these expectations.

The ****** system is a CO2 laser assisted device which performs a simple, safe, fast and efficient "Non Penetrating Deep Sclerectomy", also referred to as NPDS.

The ****** system contains three elements:
A medical CO2 laser system (circle around the laser)
A smart scanner with the unique software (circle)
And A micromanipulator that controls the laser beam. (circle)

The CO2 laser has inherent laser – tissue interaction charactaristics, which offer significant potential advantages when utilized specifically for theNPDS . these include effective photo-ablation of dry tissues, coagulation of bleeding vessels, and high absorption coefficient of the laser energy by aqueous humor – so, when adequate percolation is achieved, the energy is absorbed, the ablation is ceased and thus, functionally, creating a self regulating procedure..

The ****** is easily adapted to all contemporary ophthalmic microscopes available in most, if not all, ophthalmic ambulatory and operating rooms.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and on an out-patient basis.


The procedure starts by creating standard scleral flap, identical to that created in standard trabeculectomy surgery.
Once the flap is created, the laser guided by visual parameter beams, is aimed to the region of the Schlemm's Canal. Ablation is affected by the depression of a foot pedal by the surgeon. Each depression of the foot pedal triggers the delivery of one thin layer of the sclearal tissue in the area scanned. The laser is repeatedly administered by the surgeon until percolation of aqueous is achieved. As the laser energy is absorbed by liquid, the laser ceases to ablate areas where adequate percolation has already been achieved and thus self regulating the System against penetration into the inner eye.

Once the surgeon is satisfied with the level of percolation, the flap is then repositioned on the ablated area and the surface remains protected while enabling the continual percolation of aqueous and maintaining a stable ***.

******* has performed human clinical trials in a multi national, multi center study.

Current data is available from 31 subjects.,

Patients were admitted to the study with baseline IOP measured of at least 18 millimeters of mercury and as high as 45 with maximum medications
All patients but two reached the targeted IOP of 18 mmHg, ,
the system was demonstrated to be uniquely safe as there were no adverse effects during the procedure . .
The rate of side effects related to the device post operatively are minor.

The mean *** at 6 months follow up was 13.6mmHg as compared to 26 before surgery reflecting an average reduction of 47%.
The average number of medications dropped from an average of 2.3 medications per subject to 0.3
