Welcome to Timothy J. Hyland Hall, home to one of the largest business schools in the Midwest.
Thank you for taking the time to tour this spectacular academic building. As we move through the tour you will see its corporate-style design,
its natural light and transparency,
its use of renewable building materials, and simply . . . its beauty.
It’s a place to teach, to learn,
to use the latest business technology,
and to enjoy space for studying quietly or working on team projects.
Named for Timothy J. Hyland, an accounting alumnus and entrepreneur,
Hyland Hall has 34 classrooms, 27 student organization offices, 5computer labs,
7 conference rooms,
3 lecture halls,
and 142 faculty offices.
Hyland Hall as a whole has 180,000 square feet of space and cost $41 million to build.
This atrium area features the Arc of Exchange stained glass sculpture by Charlotte Ann Paul.
Figures on the sculpture show items used in exchange like shells,
bead work,
and of course, paper money.
This 16-screen display located in the atrium can stream television programming or college video presentations.
Just off the atrium is Timmerman Auditorium, a 400-seat lecture hall used for speakers and other events.
And then, of course, we have the Deloitte Café on the first floor.
Have a seat and enjoy a cappuccino or meet your friends for lunch.
Hyland Hall classrooms have the latest wireless technology and projection systems.
In some classrooms, we can record lectures and post them to our streaming server for review before exams.
If finance is an interest of yours, you can watch your stock prices change on a real-time electronic ticker that you can see inside
or outside the building.
Bloomberg terminals allow investment students to track, analyze and trade stocks with sophisticated software tools.
As students make decisions, they can discuss their findings in the corporate board room area.
Maybe information technology is your interest.
Hyland Hall’s new IT active learning lab has shared computer monitors that move up or down into the desk depending on the task.
Students can see what their professor or other students are doing on their computers on one of the five wall screens in the room.
Business students are constantly working as teams One of the most popular areas where you can work together easily are these group study rooms with computer projection systems, video and audio recorders.
If you need to practice for an interview or sales presentation, we have 5 rooms where you can record and review your performance.
We’ve only begun to describe the wonders of Timothy J. Hyland Hall, There are many, many comfortable, quiet places for study scattered through the building.
A state of the art building for hands on education and a perfect home for the award winning and nationally recognized College of Business and Economics, Hyland Hall truly is “a degree above.”
