Female audition scene 1 Jennifer - Spanish Required for consideration as Jennifer
Teacher and Jennifer’s dad sit.

Teacher: Hi Mr. Lopez
Jennifer: El dice, hola senor Lopez
Dad: hola
Teacher: Overall, Jennifer has been doing very well academically. She’s very smart. However, she’s been very disruptive in class, making it hard for other students to learn.
Jennifer: El dice, “En general, Jennifer ha estado haciendo muy bien en la escuela. Ella es muy inteligente. Ella es muy popular y a veces habla con sus amigos durante la clase
Dad: A veces? Creo que es más como todo el tiempo. No mantener la verdad de mi señorita!

Jennifer looks back and forth between her dad and teacher- caught by Dad!

Jennifer to user: I tried to make what my teacher said not sound so bad, but my dad totally realized what I was doing! Now he is probably imagining the worst. Maybe I should have said something else?

As you can see in this scene, my teacher wants me to tell my dad in Spanish that I am not behaving in class. He won’t know though if I don’t tell him. My dad will get mad at me if I tell him the truth. What should I do?

Female audition scene 2 Jennifer English
My name is Jennifer, and I’m 14. Like you, I go to school, I hang out with my friends, and I watch TV. I think we are going to have a lot of fun together over the next 10 weeks.

Through a set of videos, I am going to share experiences I have, and together we are going to figure out how to handle these situations. These experiences are ones you may have too. They are all related to growing up, to balancing friends and family, to dealing with peer pressure, and to being responsible. Throughout each video, I will stop the video and ask you what I should do. Pick the answer you think is the best choice. I will then follow your advice. That advice may or may not work well. That’s alright- people make mistakes! Together, we will see if there is a better choice. You can see what happens as a consequence of every choice. Feel free to explore! If you need to re-watch the video before answering, go ahead! I hope you enjoy watching me and my friends tackle life’s tough situations. I think you’ll learn some things you can apply to your own life too!
Throughout the episodes, I am going to ask you questions about your experiences. I want to hear what YOU have to say! What is life really like for YOU? Are YOU going through the same things I’m going through? There aren’t right or wrong answers, just your honest thoughts.

Female audition scene 3 - Jennifer English and Lucia English

Jennifer (to user): You think I should find someone else who will let Mateo copy his or her work? I guess that makes sense. Mateo will do well on the assignment, and I won’t get in trouble. Nice! Let’s try that.

Jennifer: Hey Lucia, did you finish the math assignment?
Lucia: Ya, it’s due today. What’d you forget about it?
Jennifer: No, I did it, but Mateo didn’t. I’d let him copy mine, but I figured you’re smarter and probably got more answers right.
Lucia: Ha- yea, well at least you’re right about that. …tell him to find me during homeroom and I’ll let him copy.

Lucia speedwalks up to Jennifer.

Lucia (angry): Jenn!
Jennifer: Hey, what’s up?
Lucia: What’s up!? I got a zero on my math assignment. Mr. Rollins knew Mateo copied my work, so we both failed. Thanks a lot!

Lucia storms off.

Jennifer (to user): UGH- I feel awful now! I got Lucia involved in my problems and she failed the assignment. She could have said “no”, but I still feel like a bad friend. There’s gotta be a better choice.

Female audition scene 4 - Jennifer English and Mom English
You may use this scene as an optional scene 2 for Jennifer, as a scene for Mom, or if submitting for both, you may use this scene to demonstrate both. Please pause at least 4 seconds between voices if submitting for both.

Jennifer sits on her bed, phone in hand- her back propped up by the wall.

Jennifer: …he’s not gonna text.(sigh) God- I’m such a loser…

Right then Jennifer’s mom comes in to her room.

Mom: Hey Jenn, can you set the table? Dinner’s almost ready.
Jennifer: NO! I don’t want to eat your dinner- everything you make tastes disgusting! I hate your cooking!
Mom: Excuse me? What is wrong with you Jennifer?!
Jennifer: Nothing! Can you just leave me alone!

Jennifer stumbles in to her bedroom. Jennifer’s mom is in the hallway, right behind her, in her robe.

Mom: Jennifer, where were you? It is way past your curfew!

Jennifer turns around.

Jennifer: Nowhere- don’t worry about it….Mom.
Mom: Why do you smell like alcohol? Have you been drinking?

Jennifer doesn’t answer- she just sways back and forth.

Mom: You are in more trouble than you know, Jennifer!

Female audition scene 5 - Sister Gaby English

Mateo sees his baby sister on the floor with food sprawled out everywhere.

Mateo: What did you do? Why is there food everywhere? (fearful)
Sister: I was trying to make dinner and I was trying to get the bowl down from up there and then I fell.
Mateo: Are you okay?
Sister: I guess so.

Mom: Mateo?
Mateo: Hey Mom.
Mom: How’d it go?
Sister: Can Mateo babysit always Mom? (excited)
Mom; (looking at Mateo) I’m impressed Teo
