Well when I was trained in the factory all the communication was done by lip reading due
to the extensive noise. You wore cotton in your ears. If you were a new girl, you'd come in there, your foreman showed you what to do with lip reading. And you did it. You just did it.
They maybe spent twenty minutes showing you. They'd show you what to do, and you would observe how the other people were doing it, and you picked it up fast.
When I was new. I was scared of getting lost. I didn't know the way around, you know. You had to go through two long corridors, five flights of steps, and you went in there. Those days we had aprons, gingham aprons, and white caps we wore. You went in and went to your machine. You had to be there. When your machine started up, there was no waiting. You'd better be there, you know. And we were there. One time I was reprimanded. Oh, that's when I weighed off. I was severely reprimanded for not getting out of my scale in time. You only were reprimanded once. You didn't want to be reprimanded again.
