Project Main Details
We're doing a piece about their program in the Humbolt Park neighborhood in Chicago. It's a largely Puerto Rican-American neighborhood and our clients would like to have the narrator's voice be that of a young woman with a light Puerto Rican accent.
Just as important, we'd like the narration to have a conversational feel. We want to avoid the "voice-of-God" narration style. Think of public radio's "This American Life" program and the way the host, Ira Glass, seems almost as if he's making up the copy as he goes along.
Now, our copy is clearly written, but wherever you can create conversational pauses and turns it will help give us the casual, intimate feel we're hoping to convey in the track. The piece will be something like 6 minutes long and the total running time of the narration is something like 4 minutes.

Encircling downtown Chicago, and its traffic, skyscrapers and millions of people, you’ll find a ring of parks nearly as old as the city itself.
The nine parks -- known as “The Emerald Necklace” – are strung together by wide boulevards. And several of these green jewels -- Humboldt, Douglas and Garfield parks -- border on five low-income neighborhoods that are part of the Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative.
And what about the food that’s found in the park right now? There’s certainly plenty of it, but little that’s nutritious.
All around the park’s perimeter are vendors who make their living serving up hot plates.
So this is what a healthy lunch looks like: About 500 calories.
But if you eat in or around the park…
You’re going to triple your calorie intake.
