Script Details

We are looking for a narrator. See script for auditions.
In the 1930’s, as Japan invaded China the government sent home newsreels filled with stories of bravery and triumph…

…stories that also portrayed Japan as the heroic savior of China.

Across the Pacific the story was far different. American newsreels used the horrors of war to build animosity towards Japan.

With each victory, Japan reinforced the idea of a superior culture and military capable of defeating anyone — including the United States.

In the United States, newsreels fed public outrage against the attack and steeled the nation for the great conflict that lay ahead.

“Remember Pearl Harbor” became the rallying cry for war.

But six months later, as the fortunes of war shifted so did the tone of the newsreels.
