Hello,
"Grand Ole Funeral" is a short film which is part of the Grand Moments Project, which is located in St. Louis, Missouri. Grand Ole Funeral is a touching story about a family's beloved uncle who passes away, and the compelling memorial service they dedicate to him. Grand Moments Project is a collaborative film project which showcases films made by local filmmakers and artists, about Grand Boulevard in St. Louis.
Our company works in conjunction with Grand Moments Project. We are looking for an African-American woman who can sound like a young girl, approximately age 12. The part this person would do is the character named Caress in the script

Intro. Funeral home - day
Uncle Alfred is peacefully lying in his casket, he has a gentle smile on his face.
Narrator
Uncle Alfred's smile could light up a room, And I can still see the stern look he'd give when he wanted you to straighten up and fly right and the loving hug that would comfort you at times such as these. But never more... A seemingly short lived life, cut off by the impatience of a man behind an eighteen wheeler.
The sound of an 18 wheeler's horn.
Cut to: Black
Fade to:
Intro. Funeral Home - day
The purple cloth draped over the podium ripples as Alfred's daughter walks past and takes the microphone.
Narrator
There was a spirit of heaviness that filled the room as his youngest daughter stepped up to the microphone to sing.
Alfred's Daughter
(Singing)
Why should I feel discouraged? And why do the shadows come?
Sounds of the crying family and friends gradually swells.
Narrator
This began a domino effect of tears starting with her mother. Next her siblings broke the silence with their pain filled sobs. There was not a dry eye in the house as she stumbled through each bitter sweet line.
Alfred's daughter
(Singing)
And why should my heart feel lonely? And long for my heavenly home? When Jesus is my portion, A constant friend is he
The entire crowd rises to its' feet and shouts through their tears ("Go ahead baby, you can do it!" "Let the Lord use you!" etc.) in support of her tremendously strong effort to finish the song.
Alfred's daughter
(Singing)
His eye is on the sparrow And I know, and I know, and I know the Lord watches me
As the song came to a close the resounding sound of "Amen, Amen, Amen" filled the room. Alfred's Daughter Smiles.
Narrator
She smiled through her tears because she knew, that this is the atmosphere her father would have wanted. Although the enchanting words of the song broke up the silence and brought forth a relief of tears there was something missing...
The crowd sits back down, some hugging. Most crying.
Narrator (cont'd)
Uncle Alfred was one of the funniest men I knew. He wouldn't want us to grieve for him, he would want us to laugh. Why? Because he's gone to a better place, and he always said, "Laughter is good for the soul and a song can lighten up a heavy situation." The preacher asked the crowd to silently read the obituary and you could feel the heaviness attempting to creep back in the room.
Caress begins to wiggle in his seat to a beat in his head until he can't seem to control it. He busts out singing.

The Wild Wild West, dunn. The Wild Wild West, dunn. The Wild Wild West, dunn.
Narrator
It was as if Uncle Alfred had stepped in the room himself as my 3 year old cousin Caress.
The entire family began laughing uncontrollably.
