Fun and Engaging eLearning Project
ZDLTK15208480496X
American-based eLearning company seeks native London-based, female voiceover talent, age 20 – 40, to play the lead role in an online training program. The talent must have an authentic British accent (no Americans who do a British accent please), preferably within the London region.

Because this is a character role, previous acting training and/or experience is a plus.

Non-radio or television union preferred. Pay is a fixed rate of $150/hour (USD) of time spent recording.

This project will be ongoing for the next 12 months, and we will need voiceover tracks sent via email or FTP approximately every 2-3 months. Each recording session should take no more than 1 or 2 hours, with about 3-4 pages of double-spaced text.

Character Description:

BRENDA BROOKS: Adventuresome British woman of African descent, in her early-to-mid 30s. She wears glasses, is fun and outgoing, but also somewhat formal and uptight. She’s constantly aware of the proper ways to do and say things, which is opposite CHIP, our comic relief. Brenda does extensive reading and research before traveling anywhere, schedules her visits down to the exact minute, and obsessively over-packs so that she always has at least three back-up outfits and the necessities to care for any and all emergency situations. Brenda is trim and conservative looking. Her hair is short and spunky but well kept. Her clothing is conservative yet stylish and fun, (think: J. Crew or Banana Republic) and matches from head-to-toe.

Please read Brenda's lines only:

Brenda: Hello and welcome to Journeys into the Unknown! I’m your host Brenda Brooks-

Chip: And I’m Chip Wallace! (Referencing Abby) Today, we have a special guest on the show who we met along the way:

Abby: Hi! I’m Abigail Santiago Fernandez…but you can call me Abby. I’ll be your Center Partners expert!

Brenda: We’re so excited to share our latest journey with you. We’ve been hoping to explore this place for years!

Chip: In this episode, we’re going to show you the ins and outs of this company.

Brenda: It’s so invigorating to immerse yourself in a new culture. As you do, you may have questions, so don’t be afraid to ask! Within the compass, in the upper left of your screen, you’ll see a “help” button should you need to reference it. Scroll your mouse over the compass to see additional options for each screen.

Chip: You’ve also got us to help you navigate through this foreign terrain. By the end of our show, you should know this place almost as well as your own backyard.

Brenda: Alright, enough chatter for now! Click any segment to begin exploring!

SCREEN SAVER LINES:

If the user takes too long to choose a segment, more than 5 or 10 seconds, Chip and Brenda will remind the user:

Chip casually strolls across the screen, then stops midway, and stares at user.

Chip: So…Pick a segment, any segment. Later!

He strolls off.

Brenda pops her head around the corner:

Brenda: Hello! Go on and choose a segment. That’s right. Go on now.

She disappears off screen.

Off screen, we hear Chip and Brenda bickering over who has to go and remind the user to pick something. In hushed voices:

Brenda: I was just out there; I don’t want to trouble them again.

Chip: Brenda, you’re more diplomatic than me.

Brenda: Well just say something polite, like, “Excuse me kind soul…why don’t you pick a segment?”

Chip: Brenda, pleeeeease go out there!

Brenda: Chip, it really is your turn

Chip: Okay. I can do this.

He takes a deep breath and pops on screen.

Chip: Hi. Just a friendly reminder that this is the part where you pick something. Thanks!

He disappears quickly off screen and we hear Brenda say to him:

Brenda: That was perfect. Well done.

Segment 1: Cultural Center

Chip, Brenda, and Abby are standing outside the Cultural Center.

Brenda: As you can see we’re standing in front of the Cultural Center – my personal favorite stop on our journey—

Chip: (Interrupting) Brenda?

Brenda: Yes Chip?

Chip: Listen, I really want to just get out there and explore.

Brenda: Chip! We have to go to the Cultural Center. That’s what I always do when I visit a new place. How else would you learn about the people?

Chip: I usually just start walking and talking to people.

Brenda: I think that’s ridiculous.

All the while, Abby is watching them banter back and forth, like she’s watching a tennis match. She cuts in:

Abby: Okay, I’ll tell you what: Chip, you start walking and taking some pictures. Brenda, you and I will check out the Cultural Center. Chip can text us later and we’ll meet up. Sound good?

Chip: Sounds fine to me.

Abby: Brenda?

Brenda: (lightening up) Ah well, to each his own! (To Chip) Suit yourself.

Chip: Perfect. Catch ya later!

Chip darts off the screen. The camera focuses in on Brenda and Abby.

Brenda: Let’s go inside, shall we?

The user follows Brenda and Abby as they enter through the door of the Cultural Center.

Brenda: We need to explore this place top-to-bottom so we can be sure to get a solid overview of what’s going on here.

Abby: Click any of the objects to begin exploring!

The User goes through and explores all of the rooms/activities with Brenda and Abby standing nearby.

SCREEN SAVER LINES:

If the user takes longer than 5 or 10 seconds to choose an object, Brenda says one of several lines to remind them to do something:

Brenda: Go on and click an object.

Brenda: Not to trouble you or anything, but it might help if you click on an object. Just a suggestion.

Brenda: There’s a lot to explore so go ahead and pick something! Cheers!

B: Executive Portraits

Brenda: Abby, these are charming portraits!

Abby: Not only that, Brenda, but we can ask the executives any of these questions (she gestures to the questions on the wall) and click the numbers to hear their answers. You can also click the ‘bio’ section above each portrait if you want to read their biography.

D: Timeline:

Abby: Brenda, are you by chance a history buff?

Brenda: Why yes Abby, indeed, I am!

Abby: Perfect! Here’s a timeline of the events that have shaped Center Partners as a company. Take a look!

F: Center Partners Info Ticker:

Brenda: Stop the press! What’s this all about Abby!?

Abby: Click on any of the ticker items and you’ll find out!

G. The Word Game: Adding Value Through Knowledge

Brenda: Abby, this is an abstract picture. What’s it all about?

Abby: Well, at Center Partners, one of our core values is adding value through knowledge. To do so, we’ve devised a game to help familiarize you with call center terminology. See if you can identify the correct meaning of each word before the clock runs out. There are three levels and you need to identify 4 words from each level before you run out of time. When you’re ready to start, click “Continue when Ready” and the clock will start ticking!

If the user gets enough correct answers to result in all the cubes being turned to color and what the results of their knowledge written on the cubes, Abby says:

Abby: Very well done! As you can see, knowledge really does add value! Take a look at the cubes on the right to see what your knowledge has added up to.

If the user doesn’t get enough correct answers to result in all of the cubes being turned to color, Abby says:

Abby: Not bad! Sometimes winning takes a bit of practice. You can see, though, what your knowledge is adding up to on the right. Feel free to continue playing until you win. Click “play again” if you want to give it another shot!

A. The Company Story:

Brenda: This is quaint. What kind of film is shown here?

Abby: Brenda, this is one of my favorite parts about the cultural center; we’re going to see the company’s story!

Brenda: How charming! I love independent films.

Abby: After the movie, we’ll also get to hear from some of our executives.

Abby: If I could please have everyone’s attention… (she waits for a moment while the sound dies down) Now that we’ve seen the Center Partners story, we’re going to have the opportunity to chat with our CEO, David Geiger and our COO, Chris Kneeland! We have David and Chris via satellite today to answer your questions. Here they are with a brief message:

Video: CEO and COO give their introductions.

Animation: We see various people raising their hands at different times for a total of 6 raised hands because that is the question limit.

Abby: Who would like to ask the first question? (To user) Why don’t you choose? Click on the person whose question you’d like to hear.

D: Product Evolution

Brenda: Abby, this poster is a chic memento…perhaps I’ll purchase it for my flat…

Brenda: Thanks for exploring the Cultural Center with us!
