Fraser Institute TAXES Explainer Video
The tonality of this piece is a serious look and breakdown of the Canadian tax system. We are looking for an impactful, deep, engaging tonality to meet the visuals. Not too fast, and should make the viewer take a second thought on what is being communicated. Trusting, engaging, educational tonality. Originally we were thinking a morgan freeman tonality- but we are open to hearing some alternatives that might work close to that.

You work hard for your money.

Faced with essential expenses such as food, clothing and shelter, your household budget may feel squeezed.

But what if I told you, your family’s biggest expense is taxes?

Sure, you know what you pay in income tax. After all, income tax is the largest and most visible tax, taking 14 dollars out of every 100 dollars your family earns.

But that’s just scratching the surface.

Look closer and you’ll find many other taxes that eat away at your income, some obvious, many hidden.

For instance, payroll taxes take 10 dollars out of your hard-earned 100. Sales taxes grab 7 dollars, while
property taxes scoop up 4 dollars.

Another 4 dollars goes to profit taxes; 2 dollars on liquor, tobacco and amusement taxes; and 1 dollar for gas and vehicle taxes.

And you spend an extra 2 dollars on various other small taxes.

What’s the FINAL BILL?
Canadian governments take 44 dollars out of every 100 dollars you earn.

That’s MORE than you spend on food, clothing AND shelter COMBINED.

Now tell me, how much more can your household budget take?
