Fraser Institute Medical Wait Times Video ZD143099
Looking for a informative trusting tonality. This video dives into the reality of medical wait times in canada, and what issues can arise from them. We want to be conversational, informing, but engaging. A good energy, but a serious topic that we really want people to "think" about when they finish watching the video. Please submit a custom demo for client consideration.

The operating room is a miracle of modern medicine...
But how long should you wait to get there?
When you're not well, every day spent waiting to see a specialist or to receive treatment can be a day full of worry, pain, and risk.
Unfortunately, waiting for care has become a defining characteristic of our country’s health care system.
Last year, Canadian patients faced a median wait time of X.X weeks for medically necessary treatment after seeing a specialist.
Physicians have said this wait is almost 3 weeks longer than what they consider clinically reasonable elective treatment.
But that’s only part of the story.
Before patients even get on a waiting list for treatment, they first need to wait to see a specialist. In 2013, the median wait between getting a referral from a GP and seeing a specialist was X.X weeks.
Add these numbers together and Canadian patients waited a median of XX.X weeks between seeing their GP and actually receiving treatment.
But it wasn’t always this way. In 1993 the median wait time between seeing a GP and receiving treatment was just 9.3 weeks. Canadians are waiting 95% longer today than they did two decades ago.
