Project Main Details

Fish Ray Glasses
This is for an animated web cartoon advocating for fisheries conservation. The cartoon will be released in Canada, so this will need to be translated into French, specifically for the French Canadian language/accent.

First few lines, think documentary/Nat'l Geographic-style v.o. Second portion, think cheezy 1950's advertising v.o., very excited and upbeat.

Thanks! (Script is below, if you want to give it a go.)

Script Details

[open with documentary style voice-over, cartoon shots of undersea creatures]

The undersea world is filled with amazing evolutionary feats that ensure the survival of a species.

A hard shell for defense against predators . . .

[shot of crab with unique shell]

A huge mouth designed to filter krill . . .

[shot of whale feeding]

A surprise defense that allows for a quick escape . . .

[shot of octopus, squirting ink]

And Fish-Ray Glasses, designed to protect against human destruction.

[Cut to title shot, fish holding out 3-D style Fish-Ray Glasses, “Designed by Real Fish” and “Every Human Needs Them!”]

[Documentary style voice-over changes to more advertising-style/promotional]

That’s right!

Fish-Ray glasses, designed by Real Fish!

Ever wanted to see what’s behind all those fish in your supermarket?

Now you can, thanks to Fish-Ray Glasses!

1.) [shot of well-stocked supermarket fish case, various sale items, marked “fresh” and “right off the boat!”]

Check out the latest specials, then try on your Fish-Ray Glasses and see how that seafood got there!

[glasses cover scene, changing it to video shots of bottom trawling]

It’s a little something called “bottom trawling,” and it manages to maim, kill and scrape the ocean floor of its precious marine life!

2.) [shot of fish fillet on scale at supermarket]

Take a look at that tasty cod fillet, then put on your Fish-Ray Glasses . . .

[glasses cover scene, changes to shot of bycatch on deck, getting tossed overboard]

. . . and see that it was caught with millions of tons of other marine life called “bycatch,” an innocent word that means just toss it back into the sea, dead or dying.

Bye-bye, byecatch!

3.) [shot of supermarket case, shoppers with shopping carts gather]

Just look at that beautiful supermarket seafood case, put your glasses on . . .

[glasses cover scene, shots of fishing destruction, nets hauling]

. . . and see that humans have overfished or fished to capacity 3/4 of the world’s fish stocks!

Overfishing – it’s what’s for dinner!

4.) [close-up in seafood case of shrimp and salmon]

And look, there’s some delicious farm-raised salmon and shrimp!

But thanks to your Fish-Ray Glasses . . .

[glasses cover scene, undersea shots of fish farms, mangrove destruction, diseased fish]

. . . you can see that they’re raised on a fish farm with pesticides and anti-fungal chemicals—harboring parasites that kill wild fish polulations!

[shot of friendly-looking butcher/seafood counter worker at seafood case]

So next time you’re at the grocery store, put on your Fish-Ray Glasses and see what’s really happening in our oceans, then do something to protect them!

[glasses cover scene, friendly worker turns into mean-looking pirate/fisherman with gaff hook, scene behind turns to bycatch, trawling footage]

[take action link pops up on final landing page]
