Welcome to the Phillips 66’ Export Compliance training course.
You are taking this course because it has been determined, either by your supervisor or otherwise, that your job may require that you engage in export activity. Therefore it is important that you understand your responsibilities to comply with the export control laws and regulations which may be applicable to your activities.
When you are finished with this course you will understand:
What export control laws and regulations are;
Where export control laws and regulations are found; and
How export control laws and regulations impact you and our company.
You will also understand:
The company export compliance policy and some of the specific requirements that we, as a company, must do to comply;
That export compliance is everyone’s responsibility, including yours;
What happens if we fail to comply, and
Who to contact when you have a question.
This course will show how you can help Phillips66 comply with export regulations.
What are export controls and why do we have them?
Export Control laws and regulations are designed to prevent goods, software and/or technology from reaching, (or being received from), certain countries or individuals, and to prevent such items from being utilized in an end-use which is prohibited.
The U.S. and other Governments control the exports of sensitive equipment, software and technology as a means to:
• Enhance national security objectives by limiting access to sensitive items and technology.
• Promote regional stability
• Take into account human rights considerations
• Prevent proliferation of weapons and technologies, including of weapons of mass destruction, to problem end-users and supporters of international terrorism
Comply with international commitments, including UN Security Council sanctions and resolutions
Because Phillips66 is a large company with business units, activities and people across the globe, complying with the export compliance regulatory framework can be complex, and requires employees and contractors to be vigilant. You will learn more about how to comply during this training.
Phillps66 has established the Office of Export Compliance, which will hereafter referred to as the OEC, to assist you in complying with applicable laws and regulations. You will find more information at the Export Compliance home page.
