Project Main Details
In Singapore, there are about 20,000 people currently living with epilepsy, and the video aims to assure newly-diagnosed patients that the quality of their life does not necessarily have to end when they have epilepsy.
The video includes a brief overview of what epilepsy is, and a more detailed description of the types of seizures experienced and their symptoms. The information is more "dry" in nature but the script is accompanied with relevant dramatized re-enactments to show family and caretakers of the patients the right and wrong way to handle a seizure.
We want the voice talent to be personal and be able to assure the patients and their families who are watching the video. A warm, and soothing tone will be preferred for the reading. 2011-09-21 01:19:11 GMT 2011-09-24 23:00:00 (GMT +08:00) Singapore Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. Epilepsy can be divided by its causes into two broad categories.
A person’s risk to developing Symptomatic Epilepsy increases with exposure to certain factors and conditions, and usually develops because of some structural abnormality in the brain.
There is no clear cause for someone to develop Idiopathic Epilepsy, and genetic factors are thought to be responsible. Defects in certain genes can cause special proteins, known as ion channels, to malfunction, disrupting the brain’s electrical impulses, and causing seizures.
The main symptom of epilepsy is repeated seizures and epilepsy can be partial or generalized, depending on how much of the brain is affected.
A Simple Partial Seizure occurs when the person is conscious, but someone having a complicated partial seizure loses his sense of awareness, does not respond to anyone, and have no memory of the event.
A Complex Partial Seizure is normally characterized by strange and random bodily behaviour such as making random noises, fiddling with objects, lip smacking, chewing or swallowing, and adopting unusual postures.
For most people living with epilepsy, the outlook is very good and Anti-epileptic Drugs are usually able to control the symptoms of epilepsy.
There is a wide variety of Anti-Epileptic Drugs available and the doctor will choose one that is appropriate for the kind of epilepsy and the state of the individual.
Finding the right type of drugs and the correct dosage can take some time but the medications have been effective in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures.
