Project Main Details
The reading should feel like it's from a documentary interview - keep it natural, don't read it like a typical voice over with emphasis and energy. Keep it as if it were a normal conversation with someone in a living room. Keep a pause between the lines, they should not run into each other. 2013-08-10 20:08:19 GMT 2013-08-12 20:00:00 (GMT -08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 25 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. It’s terrifying. You wake up in the middle of the night. You’re alone.
But the flipside of that, it can be so majestic. There are periods of pure elation.
(Chuckles) Yeah, I’m sure if a psychologist didn’t know what you were doing, it could be diagnosed as manic depressive.
VO: You know what the Chinese call it? They have this phrase, ‘xia hai’. It means to dive into the ocean. It’s actually quite a beautiful metaphor.
VO: The French gave us the word originally, it means ‘one who comes between’. But before that, it actually meant the manager and promoter of a theatrical company. [Pause] Which I like to think is quite appropriate when you see the people in my office.
VO: In Australia, the Aboriginal word for it is ‘egargal’, which literally translates as ‘storyteller’.
VO: For me… it’s empowerment. In Cairo, the opportunities within a traditional career are often very limited for a woman. This way, I take control of my own destiny.
VO: Some people don’t like that – it’s threatening. It’s destabilizing.
VO: But this is how things move forward. This is how the human race progresses. It’s not from working for others and staying in line. It’s going out and discovering, innovating. Creating.
VO: In the Polynesian Maori of New Zealand, the phrase they use is ‘tinihanga a maui’, which means ‘the tricks of maui’. Maui is a demi-god in Maori mythology that slowed the sun so his fisherman could get more fish. He was the first entrepreneur.
VO: That’s the key definition I think. It’s the willingness to go out and change things that need to be improved. It’s never settling for the status quo. That’s why we’re not where we were 20,000 years ago, living in caves and hunting with spears. It’s human nature to create a better life for ourselves.
VO: It’s not for everyone. But if you think it’s for you - you just have to jump.
