That's my brand. You've probably seen me on Facebook or youtube.
These are pictures of me doing handstands in places.
I help companies revolutionize their brand using social media.
I started using Facebook just a few years ago. Aaaand... (Laughs)
I have a lot of friends.
There's a lot of social media options out there and it's not easy to navigate the social space. It can be confusing.
But when you boil it all down, Its all about networking. Building relationships. That's always come natural for me. Social media just made building relationships infinitely scalable.
In business, social media is no longer optional. Its expected. It's essential. And companies that are doing it well are winning the game. I create social media programs that break through, promote and engage.
The handstand girl thing started a few years ago.
I was going through a very rough time in my life.
My mom, who was always my rock, was losing her battle to breast cancer.
At one point, she was only holding om, fighting because she was worried about me. But she was in so much pain.
Hospice meant... no more treatments. No more fighting. I remember asking her if if she was ready ...
And she looked up at me with eyes that comforted me my whole life and asked me to promise her that I would be ok and really live my life and be happy.
I told her that I would always make her proud of me. And peace... Just draped over her face. My mom died six days later.
Losing my best friend literally turned my whole life upside down.
It took me a while to find my way. Fitness and martial arts helped.
And then someone suggested that I start doing handstands.
It really balanced me physically and emotionally.
I guess you could say doing handstands got me back on my feet again.
And I've never stopped doing them.
Now I do a handstand whenever I go somewhere important- and I try to get a photo of it. (laughs) It sort of marks my journey.
People know me for my handstands.
It's like I always tell my clients - when it comes to social media, your brand needs to stand out. (smiles) I do handstands for them too.
My name is Alissa Marks... Handstand Girl! And this is my Elevator story.
