Project Main Details
Andy (a cheeky rock) learns the principles of Land Reclamation (both natural and industrial) as he witnesses Kevin's career. The tone is light and quick paced. Packed with information, and peppered with lively color commentary by Andy.
Preference will be given to actors who can voice secondary characters with three to five lines each. (extra performance fees for those).

ANDY - A quick talking and cheeky rock who can't seem to find a quiet spot to rest
YOUNG KEVIN - Twelve year old well-spoken and intelligent boy who finds his calling in Land Management
JENNY - Kevin's daughter who is very impressed with her father's work and wants to see more

KEVIN'S DAD - Middle aged upbeat naturalist

Hey it's Pocket Gopher! If she's survived the blast, there's hope that others have as well.
That means the forest can start it's natural succession. It'll take a while to grow back, but I've seen this sort of thing before. Nothing to do now, but sit back and wait.

Urgh. All these bugs are kinda creeping me out, but they're food for the animals and that's a good thing.
I'm ready to give my presentation now Ms. Heedy.
Natural Succession is the process of disturbed land returning to a sustainable and stable environment.
An example of this is Mount St. Helens. When Mount St Helens erupted, it destroyed much of the surrounding areas. However, there were some regions where plants and animals actually survived.
This was the site of the old mine? But I don't see anything but plants and grass.
You did a really good job dad, I can't see...
Oh, I CAN see some pieces of road over here!
Oh wait, this is just a rock.
Alright crew. The mining site is finished with, and now it's time to follow our reclamation plan.
We'll begin by leveling the mine out and breaking up the roadways. Once that's done, the top soil can be brought back and spread out.
It took a lot of years for this ecosystem to build support for animals as large as that elk.
Actually, in some areas a small number of plants and animals did survive the blast.
And it's because of those survivors that this forest has grown back to what we see now.
Their underground tunnel systems must have protected them.
It looks like some small pockets of seedlings have survived as well.
They're recolonizing the area, and appear to be thriving off of these plants.
Each one of these small species helps another to return.
