Project Main Details

Dog vocies for animal shelter radio
You are auditioning for dog 1 or 2. Not the announcer. We are doing a public service radio spot for the County Animal Shelter. They want a fun/funny radio spot. Frankly, I hear male voices in my head. One older and gruffer, on younger and energetic. Both with a lot of personality. Not sure how we'll handle the barking yet. Could be real dogs. Could be you. Ad libs are welcome. I suggest playing both parts or finding someone to read with...whatever works for you. Have fun!

[Two dogs running from the dogcatcher. They knock over garbage cans, run through bushes, and so on, trying to escape. Panting]
DOG 1: Quick in here!
DOG 2: What are we running from?
DOG 1: The dogcatcher.
DOG 2: Whew. That was close.
DOG 1: Yeah. If he catches us, it’s off to the animal shelter.
DOG 2: What? Wait? Which animal shelter?
DOG 1: Probably Salt Lake County.
DOG 2: Serious? [Starts barking] Hey! Over here!
DOG 1: Shhhh! What are you doing?
DOG 2: Haven’t you heard? Salt Lake County Animal Shelter was voted Best in State. They feed you. They give you a bath. Take you out and play. Give you some tests…make sure you’re healthy and well adjusted. Then they find you a new human.
DOG 1: Doesn’t sound like any animal shelter I’ve ever heard of…
DOG 2: Where’ve you been? All the best dogs and cats go there.
DOG 1: [SADLY] Yeah?
DOG 2: Hey, what’s with the droopy tail?
DOG 1: Who would adopt a mutt like me?
DOG 2: Are you kidding? Look at that face. You’ll be adopted in no time!
DOG 1&2: [They both start barking] Hey! Hey! Dogcatcher! Over here!
