Iconic NYC landmarks: Empire State Building, pigeons flying,
people hailing cabs, the Naked Cowboy etc.
One of the world’s leading global
cities, New York is the home of the
United Nations Headquarters, Wall
Street, and major centers of the
Art and Fashion World. It is also
one of the most unique and diverse
cities on Earth... so where to
start? Perhaps the best place to go
is where so many New Yorkers began
their life in the New World so many
EXT. THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
STOCK FOOTAGE: Statue of liberty, by boat.
The Statue of Liberty, one of the
most recognizable statues in the
world. This lovely lady, who
stands over 150 feet tall, and over
300 if you include her pedestal,
was given to the United States by
the people of France in 1886. For
many immigrants, the Statue of
Liberty was a first glance of their
new home in America. You can view
the Statue of Liberty today on the
Circle Line cruises, a magnificent
boat tour that operates 365 days a
year, providing various water tours
of all of city. Also open all year
is the immigrants’ next stop, Ellis

STOCK FOOTAGE: Immigrants arriving to Ellis Island
Over 12 million immigrants entered
America through Ellis Island. But
for the 2% that were denied entry
due to health or other reasons, it
was known as the “Island of Tears”
or “Heartbreak Island.” To this
day, Ellis Island still contains
the registry of every person to
pass through its gates. Perhaps

INSERT: MAP OF NEW YORK CITY - HIGHLIGHT MANHATTAN
While these tiny islands were the
first steps into New York City, the
main destination laid just up
river... the island of Manhattan.
Manhattan, the center of New York
and the smallest of the Five
Boroughs, geographically, was
bought by the Dutch in 1624 from
the Native Americans who called it
Mannahatta or “Island of Many
Hills.” Today, very few hills
remain... unless you count the

Commuters and locals alike move in
and out of Manhattan day and night,
making it one of the most busy
cities in the world.
STOCK FOOTAGE: TIME LAPSE, PEOPLE MOVING, TRAINS COMING AND
GOING, DAY TURNING INTO NIGHT.
One method that people use to enter
and exit the city is by train,
through Grand Central Terminal,
located on 42nd street and Park
EXT. GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL

The terminal, which covers 48 acres
of prime real estate, is one of the

and currently boasts 44 different

INT. GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL
You should take a look at the Main
Concourse. It’s huge! Over
700,000 people pass through this
terminal every day. It’s a New
York staple! And if you’re not
rolling in through Grand Central,
then you’re probably coming in
through Penn Station.
EXT. PENN STATION/MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
And if you’re at Penn Station,
you’re directly below one of the
premier sports and entertainment
venues in the world: MADISON SQUARE
STOCK FOOTAGE: MADISON SQUARE GARDEN EVENTS
Don’t be fooled by the name, this
building isn’t on Madison Avenue,
it isn’t a square, and it certainly
isn’t a garden.
