The Compliance and leadership way of working is how a team plans, executes and evaluates a job when they are at their very best, and this way of working should lead to a good result.
Two engineers are going to recertify a safety valve on an oil heater.
While working, the team have to make sure that they understand correctly what they have to do, and that they share this understanding.
Roar and Andreas discuss the job and both come to understand what has to be done.
BLUE SCRIPT - Character Working Guy
Andreas, have you worked on this kind of job before?
Shall we have a look at what tool we need, and where it should go?
Andreas, this is the valve we’re going to remove. When we remove it, we’ll bleed it. We can manage to lift it down, it’s not so heavy.
Yes, 22 and 27 wrenches and a 1-inch and 2-inch 150 gasket.
I’m looking at the work permit and I can see it’s marked for working on hydrocarbon- bearing systems, pressure release and drainage. An insulation plan and barrier are also marked. We’ll find requirements on protective equipment according to the HSE data sheets on the PC here. How do you work out the risks involved with the job?
Red Script - Character 2
Yes, I’ve helped out with a lot of recertification jobs. But I’ve never done one on an oil heater before.
Do we just need to take a few gaskets and wrenches along with us?
Well, there’s a risk of trapping, oil spillage and exposure.
Okay, you said we could lift it. How heavy is it?
Isn’t that a bit heavy? We might drop it.
What do you mean?
