“Students from around the world discover College of the Desert as the perfect place to pursue their educational goals. As a community college, College of the Desert is the ideal point of entry to the American education system with substantial savings in tuition, small class sizes and dedicated student support services.
Located in the world famous resort area of Palm Springs California, COLLEGE OF THE DESERT offers spectacular year round weather, outdoor sports, endless activities, and attractions to keep you busy ”.
Situated between Los Angeles and San Diego, a safe, small town atmosphere surrounds the college campus with world class shopping on El Paseo, Championship golf on more than 100 golf courses, nightlife, ethnic restaurants and an active music and arts scene.. Snowboard and ski in Big Bear, Swim and surf on the California beaches, hike Joshua Tree National Park or just relax at the pool while studying for classes.
“As beautiful as the area is, students choose COLLEGE OF THE DESERT for its exceptional academic and university transfer opportunities available to all international students. Transfer to the University of California and California State University systems is as easy as “2+2”: Two years at College of the Desert plus two years at university will lead to a Bachelor’s degree. International students from COD have successfully transferred to: UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, San Diego State University, San Francisco State University, as well as private and out of state institutions.
The Faculty and facilities at COD are exceptional: State of the art Computer, Science and Communication labs and faculty who have PhD’s, Masters degrees and many with international experience give our students strong academic preparation for transfer.
“The International Education Program supports 200 International students each year to realize their full potential. The caring and professional staff at the IEP provides university transfer assistance, academic and immigration advising, monthly social activities, scholarships and housing assistance.
The HOST FAMILY program at COD thoughtfully pairs students seeking a supportive family atmosphere with families who have been carefully selected. Off campus apartments are also available.
Monthly off campus activities add a social dimension to your American college life: Group trips to the beach, Disneyland, holiday parties and more build a community of friends that will quickly make you feel right at home! There is plenty to do on campus as well: like sports, theatre and student government plus a variety of clubs to fill your day.
The Intensive English Academy (IEA) teaches English skills needed for entering an American university. The IEA combines traditional teaching in small class sizes combined with computer-assisted instruction. Upon completion of the IEA, students can enter College of the Desert without the TOEFL to continue their academic studies.

The Intensive English Academy is located on the College of the Desert campus allowing IEA students to experience an American college setting, enjoy access to campus services and participate in the International Education Program services and activities… all providing many opportunities for IEA and COD students to meet and make friends.
As you think about studying in the United States Join us in the California Sunshine! Fulfill your goals and build wonderful memories that will last a lifetime at COLLEGE OF THE DESERT. “
