Background: Clyde Curfuffle is in his early 70’s. He’s run his shop for 40 years, collecting odd items from around the globe. He has a warm, grandpa-like voice. He is bothered by all the bad luck he’s been having but he still has a positive attitude. He is enlisting the help of the player to get him out of this funk – and change his luck for the better.
Clyde: It all started two months ago when a fire broke out in my civil war room.
Visual: Image of weapons on the wall. Fire, flames.
SFX: fire crackling, explosives (like gunshots)
Clyde: Then a water leak flooded the basement. My baseball cards were ruined!Visual: Image of baseball cards. Water rising up over the cards.
SFX: sound of water rushing. Filling up a jar or something that gives impression of flooding.
Clyde: Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I fell off the ladder and broke my collarbone. (pause) Now, I’m in the hospital recuperating. That’s why I need your help. Visual: Image of ladder falling across scene. We don’t see Curfuffle.
SFX: crashing sound
Clyde: I’ve left you a journal with research on 12 of my favorite collectibles. One of the items is so rare and valuable I dared not disclose it in my journal.
Visual: Journal, rare items
SFX: probably only music – or maybe sound of pages turning
Clyde: Instead, I devised a secret code as a key to which rare item is the most valuable. Please find that item and sell it at auction to save the shop. I’ll give you a share of the proceeds!
Visual: close up of alphabet block secret code machine
SFX: perhaps sound of blocks turning and clicking/locking into place (sort of like swishing sound then a click)
Clyde: While I’m away from the store, please fill outstanding orders to keep my customers happy.
Visual: close up of stack of order forms or letters
SFX: maybe sound of cash register going ka-ching or sound of letters piling up
Clyde: Time is of the essence! I'm dependent on your sharp eyes to secure my future.
Visual: close up on clock; maybe show part of a collection with a magnifying glass (zoom in)
SFX: Clicking noise and “zing” sound from the game when an item is found.
Clyde: Seymour will be your guide. He knows his way around the shop. And with your help, maybe my luck will change! Visual: Seymour, the toy robot, pops into the scene and says “let’s go.”
SFX: swoosh/pop as Seymour enters
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I fell off the ladder and broke my collarbone. Now, I’m in the hospital recuperating. That’s why I need your help.
