Script Details

Yes
Script provided by the seeker:

IT’S A SCARY SHORTAGE THAT IS ONLY EXPECTED TO GROW.

MORE AND MORE, EXPERINCED REGISTERED NURSES ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES ARE LEAVING THEIR JOBS.

RETIREMENT, JOB DISATISFACTION AND FEWER NEW WORKERS ARE THREE REASONS FOR CURRENT SHORTAGE AND THE PROBLEM IS EXPECTED TO GET WORSE.

ACCORDING TO RESEARCH RELEASED IN MARCH OF 2008 BY THREE DOCTORS FROM VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING, DARTMOUTH UNIVERSITY AND THE CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE, THE SHORTAGE OF R.N.’s COULD REACH 500-THOUSAND BY 2025.

THE STUDY ALSO FOUND AS THE SUPPLY OF NURSES DIMINISHES, THE DEMAND FOR SKILLED NURSES IS EXPECTED TO RISE BY TWO TO THREE PERCENT EACH YEAR.

SUCH AN IMBALANACE IS FORCING THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY TO RE-EXAMINE HOW TO RECRUIT AND KEEP EXPERIENCED NURSES. WITH AN AVERAGE AGE OF 45 YEARS OLD, NURSES ARE HIGHLY SKILLED BUT PRONE TO BECOMING BURNT OUT.
IN ADDITION, FEWER NURSES ARE ENTERING THE FIELD EVERY YEAR.

IRONICALLY, INSUFFICIENT STAFFING DUE TO THE NURSING SHORTAGE CAUSES EVEN MORE NURSES TO LEAVE, MAKING THE PROBLEM WORSE.

WITHOUT ENOUGH NURSES ON STAFF, THOSE WHO STAY ARE REQUIRED TO PUT IN MANDATORY OVERTIME AND COVER VACANCIES IN OTHER SPOTS.

THIS “FLOATING” OR “PULLING” OF NURSES TO ANOTHER UNIT IS OFTEN VERY STRESSFUL.
