Project Main Details

Clear Horizons School for Autism Gala
Short VO for animation project.

********************** is a school for autistic children.

This video will be shown before fundraising auctions begin to help those in attendance get a better grasp of what we know about autism and how specialized schools help these children work with their autism.

We are looking for an open and sincere but also optimistic reading. Think a mix of "The Giving Tree" **********************************************************************************************

The look will be much like "When I grow up" but "The Giving Tree" shows the more realistic and serious side.

Script Details

***custom demo required***

We are looking for an open and sincere but also optimistic reading.
Here is the first 1/2 of the proposed script:

My mom and dad found out one day that I have autism. They weren’t happy. They were sad.

When we were at the doctor’s office, they told him that I was always able to say my name and play with my brother and sister before, but that after a while, I stopped doing those things.

They told the doctor that now I don’t like to be touched, except by people I’m really comfortable with; like my mom.

They told him that it takes me longer to get used to new places and things, and that I don’t like looking in people’s eyes.

They told him that I don’t like bright lights or too much noise.

They told him that they tried to get me to be “normal.” The doctor told them that this is my “new normal.”

After my family found out I had autism, they started getting used to some of the things I do. It didn’t matter anymore that I didn’t look in their eyes, or that we had to turn off some of the lights and noise makers in the house.

But, it still mattered that I didn’t talk or play.

My mom asked me if I still loved her but I didn’t know how to answer her. My brother and sister stopped asking me to play because I didn’t know how to tell them that I wanted to. Now my family thinks they’ve “lost” me, and that we don’t know how to live together anymore.
Please note that you should only use the script or your recording of it for auditioning purposes. The script is property, unless otherwise specified, of the voice seeker and it is protected by international copyright laws.
