Project Main Details
We need voice-actors who will role-play and give voice to the animated characters in the course. This audition is for the character of 'Cindy'. She is a 44 year old wife of a veteran, Dave.
Dave and Cindy have been through multiple deployments. She thought she knew what to expect, but this return was different. She was surprised by Dave's temper, excessive drinking and his avoidance of emotional and physical intimacy. She knew other military families and understood that readjusting to civilian life was sometimes difficult. Still, it was hard to be patient.
Cindy called a good military friend of Dave’s and asked him to come over and talk to him. After speaking to Dave, this friend told Cindy he thought Dave needed treatment for PTSD and possibly TBI. After nine months of counseling at the VA Center, Cindy and Dave are easing back into a normal life and their bond is much stronger from the collective experience.

*********************************** [Cindy in an interview setting]
CINDY: Dave came back with PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury. For the first few months, I really didn’t know what was going on, and it was… it was scary.
[cut to pictures of Dave and Cindy]
He’s better now, but that first year was tough… for both of us… and we fought a lot. One thing some family members notice about a person with PTSD or traumatic brain injury is that they get angry more quickly than normal; they have a shorter fuse. And usually about things that wouldn’t upset them before. It doesn’t last forever, but it can be scary at first… especially before there’s a diagnosis.
For example, one day, when Dave had been back about three months, I was planning for a barbeque… I’d mentioned it to him the week before…
[cut to a scene… conversation between Dave and Cindy]
CINDY: Hey, Dave, Jenny and I are talking about having a barbeque next weekend, probably Sunday. Wouldn’t that be nice? We haven’t seen her or Lance in a long time, I think it would be a lot of fun.
[DAVE: Uh huh… (reading the paper)] - [he flips the newspaper; sound effect of newspaper page turning]
CINDY: And the kids could hang out together. I think it’ll be nice. What do you think?
[DAVE: Yeah, sounds fine. Whatever you want…]
[cut back to Cindy in the interview setting]
CINDY: I was so excited about having people over again; I felt like I hadn’t gotten to see my friends in a long time and, you know, honestly was feeling kinda lonely. So I bought a whole bunch of food to grill, I got lots of beer and soda. But then the day before the barbeque… I came in and Dave blew up at me…
[DAVE: Cindy! Cindy, come in here! What is this email I just got from Lance Moore...]
CINDY: Well, what do you mean? The barbeque… That’s tomorrow.
[DAVE: What? What are you trying to do to me? You know the Giants are playing. What the hell are you trying to screw this up again?]
CINDY: Dave, I told you a week ago. You said it would be fine.
[DAVE: Don’t LIE to me!]
CINDY: I’m not lying! What are you talking about?
