Children's Shelter 2
This is for an informational video to make the public aware of the Hope Village Shelter for abuse and neglected children. Because the shelter depends the public's help and support it will be sent to potential donors in hopes of encouraging their help.

More than five children die every day as a result of child abuse so the delivery should feel passionate and sincere about the subject but not over the top.

I have included the current version of the entire script as a reference and for a sample read just use a short portion.

The final version of the script will have minor changes and should be completed soon.

Script Details

More than five children die every day as a result of child abuse so the delivery should feel passionate and sincere about the subject but not over the top.
In a perfect world, children grow up in homes where they feel safe. For some, each day holds no smiles or loving hugs. Instead there are beatings, broken arms and broken hearts, too little to eat, and abuse. Even here in Mississippi there are far too many children who are neglected, abused, and abandoned.

That’s why there is Hope Village. Founded in 2000 it opens loving, healing arms to children who have forgotten what it’s like to smile, to be happy. It cares for them, nurtures them, and allows them to heal, to dream, and to grow.

Each child who comes to Hope Village has been removed from her or his primary caregiver’s custody by the Mississippi Department of Human Resources because of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. These kids are taken from parents or caregivers who themselves may be struggling with poverty, addictions, and other problems. Some children are sent to relatives who are equally unable to care for them. Many are sent to foster care, and moved from home to home in hopes that they’ll find a family equipped to handle their needs.

Hope Village rebuilds lost childhoods, and gives children a sense of family. It provides a home for those who may have never even had a bed of their own. Two cottages on campus are licensed as emergency shelters for children from birth to age 18. Two others are licensed as long-term therapeutic residences for children ages 12 to 18. And there are employees and volunteers who celebrate each child’s birthday, and who give hugs, encouragement, and unconditional love.

When children have to be taken from their parents or caregivers, the State is often forced to parcel out brothers and sisters to different homes and facilities. In the process, the children lose not only their sense of security, but they also lose their siblings, the only ones who can truly understand what they have endured.

Hope Village works to keep brothers and sisters together, and to provide consistent, unconditional love and support.

Without positive guidance and a change in circumstances, abused and neglected children have little chance of growing up to lead a better life.

Education is the key. But caregivers of abused or neglected children often fail to enroll the child in school, or to request services for special educational needs. And some ignore, or even encourage, chronic truancy.

Hope Village not only provides care for the emotional, medical, and physical needs of its children, it also offers them an education. Each child is enrolled in a local public school or in an accredited GED program, and tutoring programs are provided to ensure academic success. And any child who wants to earn a degree from a college or technical school is given an opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately, completing high school or earning a GED does not automatically guarantee that any child will go on to live an independent, productive life. Many who have been abused or neglected end up as delinquents, with no life skills, and unable to find or hold a job.
That’s why Hope Village goes beyond providing children with a chance to earn a high school education or GED degree, to go to college, or to complete technical training. It also teaches life skills, such as money management, housekeeping routines, and how to successfully interact in society.

And even when children “age out” of the program, Hope Village is still there for them. Through its Transitional Living program it provides support and encouragement to older children, and a place for them to live while they seek a college degree or further job training. In every way possible, staff and volunteers help them in their goal to achieve independent, productive, and happy lives.
