Voice of God script:
Ladies & Gentlemen
We now have the pleasure to witness an act from the famous Greek Tragic Play “Electra”, written by one of the greatest Ancient Greek tragedians, Sophocles in 410 BC.
The story commences when King Agamemnon returns from the Trojan War with his new concubine, Cassandra. His wife Clytemnestra, who had already betrayed her husband with his cousin, kills both her husband and his mistress.
Electra, the daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, furious with her mother’s act of murder and afraid for the future, rescues her infant brother Orestes by smuggling him out of town, so that he could grow up safely in a foreign land. But she loses track of his fate. For many years, she doesn’t know if her brother is dead or alive. She is devastated…
Years later, Orestes returns home as a grown man with a plot for revenge. Since no one can recognize him, unaware and afraid of the present circumstances at home, he decides to have his supposed death announced to the master of the house, who is his sister Electra.
Orestes, who does not recognize his sister either, gives her the urn with his ashes. Unaware that her brother is in fact standing alive next to her, she is devastated with the bad news. She calls for God Hades, the god of the underworld to protect the soul of her brother.
Orestes realizes that it’s his sister, he cannot help but to reveal his identity. Electra is now overjoyed with happiness that he is alive. Goddess Hestia, protector of the family, celebrates with them.
