Cape League ZDLTK152031071109X
This VO audition is for a 13 minute pilot for a prospective cable series which will be pitched to a number of sports and non-sports networks. It is about a summer baseball league on Cape Cod, MA, in which many of the best college players compete in an amateur setting. There is a definite Field of Dreams quality to the pilot, and the voiceover should be “real person, young, guy next door, baseball fan, non-announcer, with a dry wit”. We do not want to pursue any Boston area or other regional dialects. We’re sorry that the payment is so low, but we will make every effort to cast the pilot VO talent in an ongoing series, and we will gladly furnish a DVD of the finished pilot to you for your own private, personal use.

VO Audition Copy
Part One (No Regionalisms, Baseball Fan, Guy Next Door, Non announcer)
VO: Ready for a little baseball trivia? OK. What do Thurman Munson, Nick Swisher, Buck Showalter, and Joe Girardi all have in common?
YES! They all played summer ball in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Believe it or not, one out of every six current major league players spent a summer here in the Cape League.
My fellow fans, you are looking at the future of baseball right here.
And they teach little kids at baseball clinics.
Part Two (Same guy as above, but a tad more of a play by play feel)
VO: The top of the first ends with no score and Y-D coming to bat.
Yarmouth’s Grant Green lines to center. He tries for two……and makes it.
He’s followed by Casey Coon (koon)…… who drives Green home with a double of his own. But that’s all Yarmouth can muster. By the end of the first, neither Sean nor Gordon have broken any records….(pause) .. although Beckham did manage to break a windshield in the parking lot.
Part Three (Same guy, pulling gently on the heartstrings over swelling music)
VO: The Cape League is one of a kind.
Pitch speed is critical.
But this is pure baseball. The love of the game is on every player’s face as they walk into the future.
The next level may mean a lot of overnight bus rides and shabby motels. But at least it’s a huge step closer to the Holy Grail for the guys in the Cape League: The Major Leagues.
