Project Main Details
Brookview House provides homeless women and their children with a safe place to live and programs to build their self-esteem. These families practice the skills necessary to thrive as active and integral members of their community and, by so doing, improves the community for all of us.
93% of the moms who have spent up to 18 months living at Brookview maintain housing
longterm because of the training and support systems we teach the moms and their kids. !
88% of students who spend time in Brookview’s Youth Development Program graduate high
school. If this same student stayed in the shelter or hotel system his or her likelihood of
graduating high school is only 25%. 2014-09-23 03:17:57 GMT 2014-09-24 03:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 4 4 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. We were never taught how to be homeless.
How to care of our homeless children. Where to get money for our food.
Theres no training for how to find medicine for my daughter’s asthma when we can’t even find a place to sleep.
I’m frightened for my family at the stories I hear about shelters. Maybe we can sleep in a motel but I can’t cook a meal for family in one. Maybe we could sleep in a car, but we don’t own one anymore.
Look at my son and my daughters. We’ve lost our home, I don’t want them to lose their childhood too. They’ve done nothing wrong. They don’t want to have to move again.
I worry about how many times they’ll have to.
We may be homeless, but we are not without hope.
We know the road to safety, jobs, hot meals, a bed, and a sense of dignity does not happen in an instant.
But Brookview house is a way forward. –It’s our opportunity to hit life’s reset button.
My family and I meet with residents of Brookview house and they told us about getting into a safe environment; learning job skills; giving my kids the kind of education and structure that seemed unthinkable yesterday.
My kids even played with other kids.
It’s a place where we could live, hang our coats and cook a meal, talk about school, job interviews, our community and maybe laugh a little. It’s a start.
Brookview. Helping Courageous moms lift their kids out of homelessness.
