Project Main Details
English teaching on-going eLearning project. We are the production house representing the eLearning client. There will be a series of audio modules featuring reoccurring cast of characters. This is designed to teach english to non-US residents in an entertaining way through the context of business. The modules will be approximately 5 finished minutes per. These VO's are the first in the series to include approximately 180 modules, so this an opportunity to get a part in an ongoing series.
1. Professional studio to record from with a phone patch so we can tie you into our recording studio so you can interact with talent that we have live in our studio.
2. You do not need to edit. We will do the Post work. You perform and record and send us the raw audio wav files via our ftp client.
3. You must be available Monday, August 29 between 9am - 5pm Eastern Standard Time. The specific block of time within that window will be defined prior to Monday.
$30 US per 5 minute module. We estimate 30 minutes of recording per 5 minute module. Two keys here are that there's no editing and if cast, you will be doing many more.

***Hello, I’m Bo Travis Wong and I work out of the Shanghai office. I’m Chinese American and an avid volunteer firefighter. My interest in fire sometimes verges on the fanatical. I somehow manage to get on the volunteer squad of whatever city I happen to be in. Narrator: Hello and welcome back to the world of Megachex, a global company with offices in New York City, Paris, Tokyo, and Shanghai. In the conversation that follows, you will again meet some of the characters who work for Megachex, and you will be introduced to two new characters, Carly Wilkinson, who works in the New York office, and Bo Travis Wong, who works in the Shanghai office but is visiting the New York office. The four employees in this scene are: Elizabeth Brainard - Data Analyst, Carly Wilkinson - Office Manager, Bo Travis Wong - Web Designer, and Georges Durand - Human Resources Director, who again is on speaker phone from Paris. They are reviewing cover letters that have been sent by applicants for the position of Internal Change Manager. At this meeting, they will be focusing on the introduction, specific content, and the conclusion. Listen closely to their conversation. You may repeat it as many times as needed to help you to learn new vocabulary and strategies for writing your own job-winning cover letter in English. First, let’s meet Carly and Bo Travis.
CARLY: I’m glad we are all here for the cover letter meeting. Bo Travis Wong has come over from Web Engineering. Hello, Bo. We’re glad you could join us. We’ll get started as soon as Georges calls in from the Paris office.
BO TRAVIS: Hello, Carly. How are you Elizabeth? It’s nice to get out of Web Engineering for a little while.
ELIZABETH: Hi, Bo. How’s the volunteer fire fighting going?
BO TRAVIS: (sounds disappointed) A little slow lately. Hopefully things will pick up soon.
ELIZABETH: Well, thank you Bo for helping us out today. Georges Durand is going to help us with applicant cover letters, specifically introductions, contents and conclusions. He will be on speaker phone. We have several CVs here and must review them for the position of Internal Change Manager.
BO TRAVIS: The cover letter is an important part of a CV.
CARLY: It’s not just important for the CV, Bo. The cover letter helps us establish what individuals are motivated to work at Megachex. (Indignant) This isn’t some fly by night, backroom operation. Megachex is a multinational global corporation. We seek to discover the highest functioning employees.
(The phone rings)
CARLY: There he is!
GEORGES: (the sound of intense wind) Hello, Elizabeth!
ELIZABETH: (fondly) Hello, Georges! How are you? How are things in the Paris office?
GEORGES: (the sound of wind is so intense, George is practically yelling to be heard) My goodness, this place is a veritable monkey house! There’s so much going on in the Paris office. It’s a full- time job!
(In the background on the speaker phone, another voice can be heard. It’s further away than Georges’s but is audible and authoritative.)
VOICE: Remember, count to ten and pull the rip cord!
CARLY: Hello, Georges! Today’s meeting objective is to talk about the three parts of a cover letter; the introduction, the content, and the conclusion. I’m here with Elizabeth and Bo Travis Wong from our Web Engineering division.
GEORGES: (gale force wind sounds continue) Very good! How are you, Bo! You must come to Paris for a visit!
BO TRAVIS: (Inquiringly) Have there been any serious structural fires lately?
GEORGES: (shouting above the din, laughing) Thank heavens, no!
BO TRAVIS: (disappointed) Oh…
CARLY: (impatiently) Cover letters, folks! Introductions! The applicant must set the stage before displaying his or her accomplishments.
ELIZABETH: We all have cover letters to look at, Georges. Mine says, “I hope you will consider me for the position of Internal Change Manager…”
GEORGES: (shouting over the wind) Not bad! The sentence is short and concise! The introduction is not about the applicants training or history.
BO TRAVIS: Mine says, “I am responding to the recent job posting at Megachex Global…”
GEORGES: (continuous wind sounds and air craft engine) Good one, Bo; it’s brief and to the point! The introduction is a very small part of the applicant’s profile.
CARLY: My cover letter uses language taken from the actual job description we posted . The ad states the job requires the applicant to “show initiative.” The applicant repeats the phrase and gives an example of how he demonstrated drive in his previous position.
GEORGES: ( howling winds) OOOOOOO! I LIKE it! It’s good to use some of the language from the original ad, as long as it’s not overdone!
ELIZABETH: My example of a CV is 100% free of errors. There are no typos, no grammar mistakes, and the spelling is perfect!
VOICE: (commanding and authoritative) Monsiuer Durand, are you ready!
GEORGES: (more serious tone, addressing someone else) Please, sir, one more minute; I’m taking part in a meeting.
CARLY: Everyone, look at the bottom of your cover letters. The conclusion should thank the recruiter (that’s us) for reading the letter. “Thank you very much for your consideration…”
GEORGES: (continuous winds/aircraft engine) Good, Carly and they should reiterate strong interest in the position, like, “I am excited about the opportunity to work at your company…”
BO TRAVIS: The applicant should also state that they intend to make a follow up inquiry via telephone or email: “ Please call me at your earliest convenience…” or “I look forward to your call or email contact.”
VOICE: (impatient and forceful) Monsieur Durand, if you are going to do it, you’ve got to go NOW!
GEORGES: (there is the sound of a heavy door sliding open and the wind getting louder. George’s voice is frantic with excitement) Remember, the cover letter should tell us what the applicant can do for our company!
VOICE: (as Georges is speaking, the voice begins to count backwards) Five, four, three, two, one NOW
(Suddenly, the phone goes silent. There is no sound at all, except a dial tone as if they have been cut off.)
ELIZABETH: (cheerfully resigned to George’s sudden absence).Okay, looks like this meeting is over. Thank you, Bo and Carly. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. See you all again, soon.
CARLY: Let’s all get back to work and see what WE can all do for OUR company!
