Well, I do know an awful lot about HIV. I’ve even been called a walking encyclopedia of HIV facts. (Chuckles). I can start out by telling you that unlike Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, HIV targets a person’s immune system, eventually making the body too weak to fight off diseases. And, unlike those other two infections, everyone who becomes infected with HIV continues to have the infection and is considered potentially infectious to others through blood and body fluid exposures. I know this all too well. I became infected with HIV back when I was still in college, with my whole life ahead of me. After contracting HIV, I was devastated, but quickly decided to become educated about it. I found I was spending so much time learning about it, that I decided to go into HIV research as a career.
