Indian Camp

Owl Woman and two or three other Cheyenne women and a few children gather around a campfire, sewing and talking. Cedric approaches

Little Mare: Owl Woman, ‘m so glad you married William Bent. I know you love him but he’s also rich. It helps the tribe.

Owl Woman: I have no regrets, Little Mare. Aaaaaah!! (she lets out a yelp of pain)

Little Mare You have regrets after all?

Owl Woman: No, I have another stab in my finger from this sharp needle.

Little Mare Oh, look, it’s one of the mountain men.

Cedric Gerard: Can you help me? My buckskins and moccasins are full of holes. I can hardly wear them.

Little Mare: Let me see. [Taking a closer look].

Cedric Gerard: Can you sew them up?

Little Mare: Well, we might have enough deerskin and gutstring….

Cedric Gerard: I don’t have much to trade. Maybe some mint from the river?,

Little Mare: We can pick our own mint.

Cedric Gerard: Maybe these brass thimbles?

Owl Woman: Brass thimbles! Yes! Little Mare…..

Little Mare: It’s a deal.

Choose item from bag activity: select thimbles

Owl Woman: Thank you. Now let’s see what we can do about those buckskins.

And one retake from the previous scene. Please note pronunciation of Little Mare (as in a young horse)…

Mirror Conclusion

Owl Woman: ‘Little Mare, come to me. (handing her the mirror to look into) Look, a person as beautiful as the sunset …...’
