If you’ve ever seen a flipbook, you know that a series of still, non-moving pictures can flow together to make a little movie. Animation works the same way. If the pictures go by fast enough, they appear to be one moving image.

Did you know that when you look at something, your eye keeps seeing it for 1/10 of a second after it’s gone? This is called “persistence of vision.” And if another image comes along quickly enough, your brain will link them. That’s what makes them look animated.
